(Lots of questions these days with my new AC.) I'm wondering about joining SCCA -- $85/year here in the Chicago area for national and regional dues combined. I'd much appreciate people's comments, suggestions, etc. Among other things, I'm looking for an opportunity to drive for fun and fast (fast would be timed solo -- I'm not looking for actual race conditions with multiple cars on the track), as well as having a good time with other folks interested in fun driving. Is anyone a member? What are the benefits? Any significant additional costs? Thanks much.

Ahhh wow sorry I missed this thread.

The SCCA is great!
I go to 3-4 of their Autocross sessions each year here at my local Nassau County chapter. I am not a member though.... The way it breaks down for me is that if you are a member, its $10 cheaper each track day, and doesnt make sense unless you go to 4 or more events.

Either way, its awesome, I pay $55 and usually get a lot of runs.. ill post more info soon w vids!
