I took my Rogue in to my local dealership to have it's first oil change yesterday. Things went smoothly and I was in and out in about 30 minutes or so. I've been running a lot of errands last night and today getting ready for a road trip this weekend. Well at one point today I walked by the front of my car and hear a buzzing sound. A very strange sound coming from under the hood even though the engine has been off for about a hour. So I pop the hood and what do I find? A hand held radio (walkie talkie) resting on top of my engine!

I can't believe it didn't fall off into my engine and destroy it. I am very thankful it didn't and even more thankful I wasn't on my trip going down the highway at 70 mph far from home tomorrow and my engine blows up because the radio fell into it. The buzzing sound saved me, I guess because the battery was going low on the radio and is why it was doing that. So I went to the dealership again today with the radio. The guy I dealt with yesterday looks at me as I walk in and notices the radio. Before I can say anything he says... "Oh that must be the infamous missing radio." I told him yeah, and I tell him it's a little scary since I have been driving around all day and last night with it sitting on top of my engine. He kind of shrugged it off and said, "sorry about that, and thanks for bringing it back." I didn't make to much of a big deal about it because I was happy nothing happened, but I don't know, the more I think about it now maybe I should have. Anyway, the moral of the story is if you have any service done to your car, please check under the hood before you leave, no matter where you have the service done.

Yet another reason to DIY.

Back in the day my uncle had this terrible rattle after some warranty work on his Toyota. Look under the truck, under the hood, etc. and finally find a breaker bar wedged in the engine compartment

I've found a couple of tools and on one occasion I heard some ticking when it rained. I checked under the hood to find a small screwdriver stuck down a distributer wire cap and it was arcing on some nearby metal. After I removed it the car ran better
