I have a little bit of extra money this month and I haven't decided what I want to purchase for my car yet. I was thinking about getting a Scan Gauge so I can get my average mpgs and all that good stuff but I'm not sure if it's really worth it.

I was reading a thread about it they were worth the money and quite a few people have said that they think it is. Now my question is; is there something like the Scan Gauge thats a little more "nicer". Like maybe one that connects to a touchscreen navi/dvd unit or so? Something among these lines... any product is fine. Just want to know if there are some other options because I can't seem to find any.

Thanks in advanced!

There are a lot of OBDII scantool programs for PalmOS and Windows Mobile, if you want to go all out. They'll provide real-time data monitoring for all sorts of things you'll never need to know for your bone stock Versa. The nicer screen alone would be worth going that route, IMO. Color graphs are a big leap up from two lines of low-res text.

I want to buy one too, but here in Brazil the Versas can work with 100% ethanol or 100% gasoline or we can mix both fuels. In my versa/tiida i only use ethanol because the price is cheaper than gasoline. I asked scangauge if it will work with 100% ethanol, but they didn't reply yet.

If it works on Tiidas in any other countries (not sure about OBD2 ports/readers in other countries) it should work no matter the fuel. It is just gathering/displaying info that the ECU is receiving.

When you do the first set up on scangauge you don't have to inform the type of fuel?

Not sure since I've never owned one, but wouldn't think so. The ECU does all the thinking the ScanGauge just displays what the ECU thinks.

Yeah those were my intentions. I didn't want the little screen with a couple of words/letters on it. I want something thats pretty crazy. I search OBDII Scantool programs and came up with this

http://www.scantool.net/scan-t....html

It's not too bad because I have a spare laptop that I could mount somewhere in my car and I could just have it hooked up to the 12v socket to charge (like in a police car). It would display all the information on the screen but I am looking for something more than this still.. something more advanced.

If I buy it now I probably won't put it in until I get all the mods that I want to do to the engine. I haven't started yet cause I don't want to void my warranty. I only got like 5k miles more to go.
