Well guys, I've been had. A little over a month ago I won a bid for an RB25DET on ebay. The transaction went smoothly, and shortly after I was told that my engine would be shipped through Exel freight. I was also given a tracking number. I contacted Exel and attempted to track the shipment; Exel did not recognize the number as coming from their system. So, I just figured the seller had given me the wrong number, so I asked for the shipping receipt. A week passes and I hear nothing from the seller. Getting worried, I open up a dispute with paypal, immediately the seller writes back in the dispute syndicate that I am lying, I have received the motor as far as he knew, and I never emailed him. I write back that this can be settled simply, if he just provides me with proof of shipment. I hear nothing. Tomorrow I am going to escalate the dispute to a claim so paypal will help me get my money back.

I checked the sellers other items and contacted the buyer of another engine that he'd sold. The buyer was also having the same problems.

If any of you care to see the auction here's the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...%3AIT

thought I was getting a great deal, and was very excited to begin my swap. Now, all I am left with is a huge headache and a bunch of RB part that I can't use. Figures.

Sucks, but;WHY THE f*** WOULD YOU BUY AN ENGINE FROM SOMEONE WITH ALMOST NO FEEDBACK? And unless one of them is you, 2 of the 3 people who've won his auctions were scammed. Unless of course you're picking the engine up.

Sorry it happened but that screams *scam*, and crap like that is easily avoided. Good luck tracking him down and dealing out justice.

yeah, I guess I just tend to think tht human nature is generally good. The negative feedback was from the guy I talked to...posted after I bought the engine. Luckily paypal is good about these kind of things; I should be getting my money back soon. The thing about the seller is he came across as very trustworthy, always kept contact until the shipping snafu; he is paypal verified meaning paypal has all of his bank account info. But you guys are very correct about the low feedback.

thats the truth.. I've also talked to my bank and they've said that they can definately help out my case. I'm not as much worried about the lost money as I am about the time I've lost, I'll never recover that. I wanted the swap to be done for NICO Fest, but hey.

If this is your first RB swap, I wouldn't hold my breath for that.

I have to defend pirate87 to a degree. He won the RB25 auction August 19th. The negative feedback did not start coming in till September 24th.

The sellers first possitive feedback item sold was an exhaust system for a SR20'd 240SX. With that kind of sale, I would have assumed he was getting ready to do an RB25 swap and a month later decided against it. Hense the later sale on ebay. So sayin "WTF were you thinking"? Could it have been that?

But all in all, I have seen to many scams come out of Canada. No offense towards Canadians in general. As a general rule, I never bid on items from a Canadian source unless the have loads of feedback and have sold not purchased related items, ie car parts.

Good luck getting your money back from PayPal.

By the way, did anyone notice the picture of the RB25, it had an auto transmission flex plate?

I may be stupid, and I've never seen an RB flexplate, but that kinda looks like an aftermarket flywheel, missing its replaceable friction surface.

Oh, I gave up on my nicofest hopes several weeks ago.

As for the seller, yeah, I figured he was just a new member trying to sell a few things from his shop...wrong.

And THAT is why I ordered a half-cut from Jarco...

But seriously , I hope you get your $ back, but like you stated, you can never get the time back. Hopefully everything works out for you.

minivan- haha, that would make my day... but honestly I have no way of actually knowing who or where this guy is (unless he is the worst scammer in history and was truthful with all his info.) His name is George Tamassy, his ebay account was registered under the name John Merrick though.

My decision, for my next attempt to buy a motor, is definately to go to a reputable company, or at least be able to go pick it up myself. Honestly guys, I just needed a place to vent my frustration to some fellow enthusiasts. I appreciate all of your comments...however harsh (really though, WTF was I thinking? )
