My buddy is a rep for a coilovers company called Scale Suspension. They offer coilovers for the M platform. Like other companies, you'll probably have to get a different spring system for the 56. The link is below.

Interesting. I see it only has 12 dampening levels as opposed to the 30+ with BC and D2.

Also, I think the different springs would only be need if you wanted to get the most performance out of them, no? If you're just going for looks, the stock setup is fine correct?

Are you running these? Never heard of them...did they just release this? I'm willing to test them... :chuckle:

I certainly like the color combo more than all the others brands...

No, I haven't tested them yet. If I do, regardless if I go with BC or Scale I'll be going with the Swift spring upgrade. Scale is a fairly new company. Your correct on the damping 12 compared to 32 on BC. I personally know two people who are currently using these on a 370z and a civic. Both love them but also both are light cars. Can't speak yet for a heavy application. I've read that using the m37 stock spring rate creates a bouncy ride for the 56. But with the Swift springs they are more true and you can pick your spring rate.

SCALE suspension used to be called STD (Standard) Suspension, but changed their branding for obvious reasons. If you scroll through the Googles for STD suspension, you will be able to see reviews from other platforms. They are not "new" per-se, just renamed. They have mixed reviews, and seem to be of the same Taiwanese quality as D2, Ksport, BC Racing, and the like.

Thanks. Yeah, I see that they are of that quality as well. They certainly look nice. What is the 'bearing gravitational' on their part page? Also, is a camber plate necessary?

Might have to give them a try. Would love to get a test kit for cheap (or free :chuckle:) since, as far as i know, no M owners have them.

Wow. I can honestly say, in my excitement of having yet another new product to discuss for our M's, I COMPLETELY missed that. *Sad Trombone Sounds*

That's it, my next car will be non-AWD. AWD guys get SCREWED in parts development.

The AWD is too good, I'll never succumb to RWD living in NY. The manufacturers are the ones getting screwed out of our business...

I got all excited as well for a minute... I already made a deal with myself that my next vehicle will be chosen based on available aftermarket products... I always pick a car with dangerously close to none.

Has anyone tried calling Scale and asking about a awd application?

I've never even heard of them, but if your buddy is a rep, he might have a more proper answer for you if you ask on our behalf.

I haven't heard of anyone with the Tanabe coil overs, but ordered them today from Michael (Tunerz) along with some other goodies. Granted I'm RWD, but I can at least give a heads up.

I would have bought RWD, but there was almost nothing in my area. I would say probably 1 over the 2 or 3 months I was looking, and it had high miles with no options. So I settled for AWD.

At least we have BC? :/

I used to have Tanabe coilovers with My G37. Loved them. Very nice comfortable ride. Not insanely stiff. It's a very good coilover for a daily driver. You'll be happy with them. Now if they got the memo that Q70s are the same as M37/56s!!!!

My buddy wouldn't know the answer to that, too many applications. I also used rep to describe him, I meant dealer. He would have to call just like we would.

I did call yesterday but no one answered the English speaking line.

So, ran into a hiccup with the install on Friday. Scale sent out the wrong rear coils. So they are express shipping the right top plate and fork. With all this snow in sure it's going to be delayed though. Might be looking at wed/Thursday to complete the install. Currently my car is at the shop on the lift cause the fronts are installed.

Alright guys,
So I got the coilovers installed. Scale Suspension, so far they ride like a dream. I'm on 12k/8k. I still haven't adjusted the dampening yet but so far so good. These are the extreme low edition. I am on #1 out 14 adjustments and on spacers. You can see in comparison to the M45.

Looks good man. Let us know how they ride after they've broken in and if they make any noises.

I might be getting a set sooner rather than later if I can sell my newly registered and fixed up (two years of work I put into that thing) '89 Kawasaki KLR 650. Hoping to get like $2,750 for it so if I don't lose my pants on the deal I've already told my wife that coilovers are at the top of the list.

Do it Ilya! See my write up, the front is much easier than previous instructions I've seen.

They start at about $1245 and $1595 with Swift Spring upgrade. With stainless hardware $1640. IMHO these are totally worth the extra $$$ over BC.

Who's a snob? Me for installing nice coilovers on a nice car???
