After owning 3 240's and wrenching on them since '99, I am moving on to something quite a bit better IMHO.Here is some shots of the 240:

Here is the "quite a bit better":

So it's a 2005 wrx with 32k miles on it BONE STOCK...First thing I'm buying for it is a cobb accessport. I figure I'll buy the tuning tool first and then buy the parts (plus when you flash to stage 1 fuel maps with the cobb you should see an increase of 30hp). I plan on heading to MZM performance in the next 2 weeks to dyno it and establish a plan for pushing 320ish AWHP (not 320hp crank). I didn't want a STi for insurance reasons and price reasons, plus the wrx can do just as good with a knowledgeable tuner with a good plan.

I want a WRX the style before that, with circle lights.

I like EVO's better the WRX's but good luck with your build. AWD is ok but you will miss RWD and be back.

Very nice pick up. I am looking into a wagon myself (or MK5 GTI). I have always preffered both the look of the Subies and the north/south all wheel drive over the transverse Mitsu layout. Don't get me wrong, the Mitsu is an outstanding car, but for my money, I would pay for the Subie. Or a full size Ford Bronco.

None the less, Happy Trails to you.

I test drove an '05 WRX once. It was thoroughly underwhelming. But then again, it had 91,000 miles put on it in 2 years, so maybe something was wrong with it...

Nice purchase and good luck with everything you plan to do with it. That's my favorite body style too, other than the 98-00 impreza.

I've been told it's a little scary feeling all four wheels spinning at the same time.

Are you parting out the car or selling (sold) as a whole? I'm near austin and maybe could pick up some of your leftover stuff. Also I heard MZM is expensive, and that if you don't have a WRX,EVO,SUPRA) they don't take your business serious. Good luck with that scooby.

Nice car, but you'll be back lol, subarus are sexy and ken block can make them crazy but imo they are heavy, and only good for rallying, plus you'll prolly need to buy a 1800 dollar s13 once you blow the crap outta the transmission.

that would be called "bug-eye" sir breadbox.

i pretty much learned everything i no on a couple different wrxs when i was 14..i learned a few things.one is the trannys like to break.two is if the transmission is a brand new replacment the rear diff feels left out and breaks too.

Yeah I would hook you up but I already sold the car with parts to a soldier in Ft. Hood. I beleive he is already on NICO, if not he will be soon.

The transmission's on the 02-03's (bugeyes) are the ones that had the most problems. Making sure my transmission lasts is nothing a little research and proper driving and care will do. Also swapping in the STi 6-speed is a possibility when it comes down to replacing the transmission.

I am gonna miss my 240, it was never fully complete to where I wanted it. I do plan on sticking around and maybe in a couple years I can do a RB25 S14 (kouki). I really needed a good daily driver and I have been meaning to get a WRX for some years now. I also didn't have the time to wrench on the 240 at the extent that I was going. I work full time and go to school at night. It's hard having a "track-car" (i.e. no AC,no PS, no Heat) for a DD....So I basically sold it to get a decent downpayment for the WRX. Also I love the sound of these boxer engines and every time I heard one I just knew I had to get one....

I actually had a powerslide the last week in the rain. I really wasn't expecting it either, but fun and scary. Can't wait to get her into some autox and time attack.

All in all, NICO has been a great source of info for me and I will be back. Just a matter of time. Who knows maybe Nissan will finally reincarnate the 240 in some fashion, if so I'll be on that in a heartbeat.

You are correct about the transmissions in the 02/03's. The 2004 and up are fine...... you won't have any issues unless you go beyond 350whp. Besides, Sti transmissions go for $3000 used and $5000 new. So it's not like you are going to just drop one in.

Before I got into the 240 thing, I was really big into the whole Subaru thing..... still am a little bit. I owned a 2002 WRX and a 2004 Sti..... both built "Broadfield" style. Never had a single problem with either one of them. But I must admit I like my S13 much more than I liked my built Sti.

I just happen to be looking for a WRX as my winter vehicle..... probably a bug eye or a blob eye. I am pretty pumped about getting back into a Subaru.

I would recommend Nasioc.com for all of your Subaru forum needs. Good luck with the car man!

They weigh in (WRX's) at approx. 3140lbs. Not that heavy for an awd setup. Compared to my old gutted 240 they may be alot, but they really aren't that bad.

Yeah, I'm actually M*A*T*T on Nasioc, that was the first thing I did after I bought it lol. Yeah, I'd be saving up to get a transmission (STi) if it ever came to that. I actually might need to talk to you about possibly buying a touch screen head unit...I think I'm gonna get the cobb accessport first though.

I have to say something about this, being the grammar whore that I am. It's not cool to type like s***. Learn to use a f*cking period. That is all.

NOTE: IF YOU ARE FROM A DIFFERENT COUNTRY, DO NOT TAKE THIS STATEMENT PERSONALLY.

Also, have fun with that Subie. I've always wanted an STi...maybe I'll get into rallying someday.
