I hate to do it, but I will be selling my Z before summers end. Pretty soon I will be down to one car, the Z. I bought the car with anticipation of fixing it at a much more rapid rate but things have gotten in the way. With the car in its current state, I do not feel confident driving it every single day.

-It leaves me with the option of getting a large personal loan to speed up the repairs to make it reliable and comfortable. -Buying a horrible beater for less than a $1000 and hope it doesnt break down, which I cant stand the thought of. -I could try to buy an ok car for around $2-6k that may last me at least 2 years or so until the Z is paid for (currently on a bank loan), but I dont think the full coverage insurance on two cars will be friendly to me. -And the final and most likely option, sell the Z for a profit, buy a very newish car thats fun by todays standards.

I'm currently looking at the Audi A4 1.8T, Mazdaspeed Protege, and Sentra SER V-Spec. All roughly the same engine output and the sentra and a4 offer a pretty stout aftermarket support. The downfall I see is that the audi is going to be a higher mileage car than a comparably priced ($13-16) protege/sentra of much lesser mileage.

I have even considered buying a better conditioned Z32, but there is no way a bank will give me a loan for a car that is marked up at least $3k above its TMV.

Financially, economically, and mentally these cars are the best deal for me. As soon as the Z is sold I will be begin test driving. I have to get my new clutch installed and a few other things fixed to insure a good profit so My goal is to have the Z sold by mid July. If I get the Protege or Sentra I may be more involved with autoX.

Dont count me out just yet, I still wish to participate in the Z/nissan communities, afterall. I may keep my second TT motor and work on that for occasional fun.

Sad to hear you're selling the Z.

But if you're gonna unload it definately stick with Nissan. For 12-13K you can get an 03-04 Spec-V with less than 10K miles. Definately a good bang for the buck.
