...you ask for extra cheese.

Is Tony really going to throw extra cheese on there or is it just an upcharge for suckers? I'm never entirely sure when I ask for extra cheese whether I'm actually getting it.

Don't laugh this is real life.

Can't speak for others, but having done this once in my life, when you asked for your pizza with extra cheese you got it. The cheese was premeasured, so I'd just dump on two plastic baggies of cheese rather than one.

Side note. Don't know about other areas around the country, but in the DC area, vegetarians never tipped the delivery guy. :wtf2:

Normal cheese for most places sort of mixes in with the sauce, but you do get small gaps. But being an ex pizza kitchen employee, I can say if you see the sauce underneath around the middle, then you didn't get extra cheese. Or you got a slappy-a** pie.

If you have more than 5 toppings on your pie, anything else you add to it is pointless because the pie won't cook right if they do add it all. SO, you either get a burned crust or they can't serve it legally.

I'd say you're only about 3oz shy of a wheel of cheese there.
Chalk it up as a win!

That's just an ideal example.

In reality, I can never tell if I actually received extra cheese.

I worked at a pizza place, and yes, you got extra cheese if you ordered it. We'd have people come in and ask for "disgusting amounts of extra cheese". No kidding.

Order two the next time you have friends over ... one with extra cheese and one without.

And compare! :yesnod

Then drive to the ER the next morning when your heart says too much cholesterol was ingested the previous night!

FWIW, I don't eat regular pizza anymore - forget about extra cheese! But I find it useful that Pizza Hut will let me order (on-line) pizza's without any cheese. Doesn't taste anywhere as good, but ... with enough toppings and extra sauce, it gives me a reminder of what it used to be like ... sigh! :)

When I worked for Pizza Hut, extra cheese was definitely actually extra cheese. All ingredients were measured out with a specific scoop or count, and extra cheese orders got another scoop.

Umm, not a freak. I'm allergic to dairy (not lactose intolerant), so I've done this. Thought it might be preferable to a pizza with soy cheese, but alas it wasn't an improvement.

I've made my own pizzas with more toppings than what is probably legal. I just cook them all seperately and then throw them on the pizza towards the end of its cooking life.

NPR had someone on the air talking about grilled pizza. I wish I could remember all of the steps. One was to precook the ingredients.

I now want pizza. Unfortunately, it is 9:21 PM and that is the last thing I need to be eating at this time of night. Bummer. :frown: That is all, carry on.

I'm sure it's difficult to determine if you got the extra cheese you ordered without knowing how much they use for a normal pizza especially if they deliver. The only way to confirm it is to at least see one of their finished "regular" pie.

Yup. :yesnod Hence my suggestion to order one of each and compare ... :)

I suppose if he was getting the pizza delivered and had enough hungry people around to consume the second pie, I agree. But If he were to pick it up himself at the pizza joint, it seems easier and cheaper to me if he simply arrived a few minutes before it was ready and observe the cheese on the other pies coming out of the oven for comparison.

Yup! I did caveat it that way in my original response too. :yesnod
