I was amazed as I watched a very early model Q45 pass before my eyes as I passed it on the interstate. It was sitting off the interstate in the emergency lane, alone. It was the first Q45 I have ever seen broken down, anywhere. I must say, it made me sad to see it there all alone :(

That sucks... I saw a early 90s Maxima on fire one evening - made me even less happy to see Q's cousin on fire. The only other time I've seen a broken down Q is mine on the back of a flat bed when the guides failed. Just reinforces that maintenence is important.

Well, didnt the early Maximas have a recall on the fuel injectors because they caught fire?

My own 92 Q has been towed three times in 40 days, due to me neglecting the fuel pump and belt/pulley-related items. Nothing serious that wouldnt happen on any other car. The tow guy and I know each other on a first-name basis.

I doubt it... there are plenty of trashy Qs in Atlanta, and quite a few that look nice but are falling apart inside.

Luckily it's still a Japanese car and it takes a beating a lot better than most cars.

To my fortune, in this podunk backwards town, all of the older Infinitis I've seen are in great shape. People who own them seem to know that they've got something special.

These cars should never break down, unless they have eternally kicked the bucket....... That is, unless you just dont take care of it........

Probably 'under the hood' and (and for our uncircumsized brethren) 'under a hood?'

With only having signatures in the first post of the thread, I don't think it's an issue... glad to see you over here with the big boys! :D

Yes... I think it included the 85-89 models, and maybe some M30s? They may have expanded the recall later. I had a 91 and it wasn't in the recall at the time (1996) when my mom's 88 went in... They replaced the fuel injectors, harness, pressure regulator, etc... I think the change in gas formulation caused leaking o-rings.

I thought it was pretty sad when they towed my totaled 91 Max past my mom's 88 at the dealership while it was waiting for the recall work... they were back in the impound yard for a few days together. The elder Max probably said "what the f- happened to you?" :( :(

Hey 95SilviaSE - I gotcha your sad story riiiight here! The silver lining was the Q!
