As the topic says, I was saved from a ticket today. Speed trap got a bunch of others, but I got the laser warning (zapped on another car) in time and braked hard enough to just be a few mph over the speed limit (40 mph zone on Blossom Hill Road just off of Highway 101, where everyone does 60+ mph!) when he triggered on me.

Four CHP motorcylces and a lot of cars were pulled over! Sneaky method: they parked their motorcycles in front (i.e., further away) of a car with the hood up(!) so you could not see them from down the road easily.

Whew!

Yes! They definitely work well! I really do not like to druve without it anymore.Quote »But I dont wanna use those suction thingies they attch wit.
They work quite well actually! Allows me to keep it in the middle of the car, low down on the windshield, just at the height of the front dash. You need the rear facing antenna and laser detector to point back between the seats!Quote »Does the V1 and/or Bell 8500 come w/ the old fashioned sunvisor clips?
The V1 does ... I do not know about the Bell.Quote »PS: Good call Z to post this in general Chat instead of just Infiniti, certain stuff like this we should start posting mor in general to promote cohesion.:)
Thanks! I have been trying to be consistent about the choice of forum, but not always successful.

I have the remote display attachment for the Valentine One. It allows just the box to be at the windshield - the warning info is low down, and does not give the game away at night!

Anyone know of a place that sells the V1 for fairly cheap? Seems like you guys are pretty happy with them, and are there any other recommendations?

I am not sure about this, but I think you can only get the Valentine One direct from the manufacturer. Mail order via telephone or from their web site.

Personally, I would not buy any other radar detector anymore (having previously owned Escort and Solo from the former Cincinnati MicroWave company), but there are people who like Bel and Escort as other good radar detectors. The Valentine's display is better, in my opinion.

You can get them used off ebay of course, but when I looked a little while back it didn't seem like they were selling for much below new. Risks considered, better to go to the factory and get a new one with guaranteed delivery and full warranty.
