Alright so the other day I was driving around and my blower motor decided to give out.. it started going tick-tick-tick-tick-tick and then nothing, none of the speeds worked.. I checked the resistor for it and it was still good.. so I give and call Ericksen infiniti nissan and ask for a price on a new blower motor.... 385 FRICKEN DOLLARS (CDN)... ha so I laugh and hang up the phone on the guy and decide im gonna fix it myself... so anyways.. I pull the motor out, which was pretty easy.. and I look at it for a gooood half hour, and then here is what I did

1) removed black rubber/plastic boot over motor

2) compressed little tabs in, placed on 4 different sides of the round plate that sits on the top of the motor (opposite side of fan)

3) took a slot screw driver, gently pry'd the metal cap off

4) removed rubber/metal plate that holds the graphite brushes, it just lifts out

5) if your brushes are worn, you can get replacement ones from any electric motor supplier or maybe even radio shack or something, and since they are extremely soft you can a pair of them down to fit ... mine were not worn, but the springs that are supposed to press them against the spinning shaft were not doing they're jobs.. turns out after a long time gunk had built up and the brushes just werent extending out anymore

6) took a brass brush, cleaned off as much as i could off the plate and around the brushes, took some compressed air and blew all the crap off them, then they moved nice and easily back and forth

7) took the shaft that they contact with and cleaned the oxidization off of it

8) re-assembled everything, bent tabs back on to make sure cap stayed on

and VOILA, once it was back in the blower was running like a champ, even more powerful than before I might add.. and I saved myself almost 400 bucks :ylsuper

good work thats a common problem in the electric remote control car world. thing is those springs are probably 30c pieces too.
