Yeah, you read right.

Details aren't too specific, but- with a 200 HP superchaged motor, it could be a fun car. Plus, like all other Saturns, it will probably get decent gas milage.Plus IMO it doesn't look all that bad.Saturn ION Red Line

Like all other Saturns it looks like turd. Slighty better than the rest... but still no good. It weighs 2850 and only puts out 200hp? So it's not going to be all that impressive.... and for $20 grand plus? I don't think so... no thanks. For that price I'm gonna be getting stomped by Neons, WRXs, etc etc etc....?

Like they say... lead... follow... or get the hell outta the way! Looks like saturn isn't ready to get out of the way yet... so why not follow the trend.

Yeah.. A for effort indeed.... albeit a half-a$$ed effort.

I come from the land of J-Bodies and I can tell you that car will suck balls. The chassis that the Ion is built on is substantially weaker than the chassis of the current j-body and has about all of the structural rigidity of a limp pen15. The car will understeer like a mofo and then transition into HARD snap oversteer if you add power.

that car is a peese o sheeit...

RSX meets Celica, and it's a Saturn. I'd take either of the aformentioned cars before, since it appears they'll be at roughly the same price point anyway.

Hell yeah. I'd take a used WRX over a Saturn any day of the week. Every Saturn I've ever seen has had very shoddy interiors and huge gaps between the body panels. I'm not a huge Dodge fan, but at least the ugly little Neon has MOPAR stuff available.

LMAO - Straight up.

I agree - 200 hp is simply average at that weight.

I did some figuring. Depending on gearing, the new Accord should be able to OWN one of these. Sad, sad, sad.

Funny, we hold the SR20 in such high esteem when it follows the same 2800lb. chassis weight with only 205hp.

Maybe YOU fit into the "WE" you refer to...

Anyway, to defend the Silvia (as a car, not an engine)...

It's RWD, its performnce specs are better ALL AROUND than what they quoted for the Saturn, it looks nice, it's NOT a Saturn, it's an import... and did I mention, it's NOT A SATURN!!!

Oh, and the SR is proven to be a good, solid, reliable engine with tons of tuning potential. Who knows what's going to happen with this POS.

the motor in that car is a 2.2 liter twin-cam 16 valve all aluminum EcoTec motor that is the same one that comes in the new cavaliers and sunfires. It uses a roots type blower and only blows hot air and there is no way to get it intercooled since the blower sits directly on the intake manifold (actually, it replaces the intake manifold...)

It is only good to about 7 or 8 psi before it gets out of it's efficiency range. When they had that same blower on the Cavaliers, it would max out at 220hp on a stock motor before it would either detonate and snap a rod, or detonate and blow the rings. The cavalier guys jacked with them for quite some time, but even after adding more fuel and stuff, it wouldn't go any higher than about 250 or so HP.

However, there would definitely be something to worry about if they were to turbo those beeauches... (reminiscent of the prototype cavalier Turbo Sport with a turbo 2.4 liter motor. Stock was like 250 some odd HP, but it was never produced...)

and as a side note, Chevrolet is dropping the Cavalier name and now it will be under a new "sporty" division called "Cobalt" in which they WILL have an SS version that features a turbo and intercooled EcoTec in the engine bay...

Its probably made out of plastic and this time even the tires and all engine parts are made out off hardened plastic. HAHA. Well 200 HP is not that bad for a saturn maybe they may recieve aftermarket support. Nick

Woah woah WOAH there.... gotta remember that it's dent-resistant plastic. You know if you drop a wrench in that engine bay you don't want to dent the headers.. (plastic?) lol...-Kev

Sounds like they're tryin to keep up with Dodge and the new SRT Neon. But I think they got off to a bad start. I havent heard about the new Cobalt lineup, but lets hope it lasts longer than the Geo brand.BTW, the SR20 can be modified and retain some reliability. I doubt the reliability of a stock blown Ecotec, forget about a modified one.

Actually, the Chevy performance parts place has a kit to get forged pistons, rods and a crank for the ecotec along with billet blocks and o ring kits...

GM wants to make the EcoTec cross platforms like the VG35 does for nissan...

You should know where I stand on the SR20 motor. I was more or less bringing up a point.

Haha... yeah, I know!!! I think I just wanted to go on the record as NOT being a member of the SR worshipers. It is what it is... a good stout engine with potential, and nothing more.
