I see that my Nissan Murano has an option for satellite radio. However, mine didn't come with this option installed. Being that the car seems "satillite radio" ready I don't want to install an external unit if I can avoid it. Which poses a problem, because for my birthday my father bought me a Serious Satellite radio system. Is there a way for me to transfer my already activated Serious account to the car's built in radio? Do I need to purchase something extra from the dealer to make this work?

If anyone could offer some advise it would be greatly appreciated.

I would take your vehicle to the dealer where you bought it, or the nearest one. Ask them if your radio has Satellite Radio capability built in. If it does, then ask them if it is possible to transfer the account. If it does not have the Satelite Radio built in, ask them what is required to added it.

Also, if you find out from the dealer that your radio has Satelite capability built in, but the dealer does not know if you can transfer your account, go to the local Sirius dealer. They should be able to tell you if this is possible.

I remember reading about one, or all, of the Satellite radio suppliers saying that they sell a satellite subscription that can be used anywhere..ie.. Car, Home, Work, etc...

If the Satellite Radio capability is not built in, you will most likely just have to buy a Sirius tuner for whatever brand radio you have and an antenna. That will only set you back about $80, and it's very easy to install. I got Sirius about a month ago and it has to be the best car audio investment I have made. It makes AM/FM radio obsolete.

Not quite. Try driving on a road where the trees cover the view of the sky. Or, try using it when it is storming. You will find that satellite radio falls on its a$$ in these cases. Whereas standard radio signals are not completely diminished by bad weather.

Satelite radio suffers the same problem as satelite TV

XM radio has both satelites and strategically placed ground antennas that help boost signal in tunnels and areas with rough terrain. If you cant get a good signal with sirius, try XM.

Thanks for all the ideas everyone. I'll have to do some more investigation.
