I just got an XM Sat radio for free. It's the Nexus Digital audio player. I have the SL so it should be Sat radio ready. What do I need to do a clean install without splicing my stock wires? Looking at the Sat radio, there is nothing to install to a car unless it's done via the red/white audio cable.

That requires a special tuner box and antenna...

it'd be best to just wire the line out on your player to the aux in on the head unit, and work it that way.

1)Will that tuner box give me a clean install and will i control the radio via the stock deck or the Sat radio?

Does the Nexus unit have a built in antenna because i notice it comes with a external house antenna but how about in the car?

I know that with my old sony headunit in my old car, it was almost $300 for the parts to get it up and running with direct wiring. That was almost 3 years ago now, but I know that some of the propreitary head units (such as the versa SL, just look at how much they'd charge you for the satellite radio equiptment off the lot), it can get really expensive. At that point you'd control it using the embedded controlls.

However, with your current satellite radio unit, I don't think there's any way to integrate the controls with the unit, as far as I know there's not really any way to integrate an external unit and an internal wiring job.

At least with my third party unit (it's cheaper, and I can move it inside to the boom box without having two subscriptions, but that's irrellavent here), the wiring job was clean because it's really easy to run it under the floor mats, and out the back of the hatch. If you're really concerned about a clean install talk to professionals about it, and I'm sure they can give you a better price quote on the tuner and antenna for the SL (I'm not even sure if third parties can sell these.)

FYI, the satellite tuner, mounting bracket, and antenna cost $300 from Nissan. Installation through a Nissan dealer will probably be 1.5-2 hours labor.

The Nissan unit is the only way to have satellite integrated with your steering wheel/stereo controls. External units running out the AUX port will need to be controlled by their own conrols.
