I wanna keep the stock rearend. I have seen only a handfull of Pathfinders keeping the stock rearend and going with a Dana 44 front axle. is this the better way to go , or should i chose a bigger axle. Toyota front axle is out of the question. Also i have noticed All the pathfinder run 5:13 gearing, is this the only gearing availabe? Thank you very much , your response is most awesomely appreciated.

the easiest axle to use for the swap is a a driver side diff 80-91 full size Jeep Wagoneer axle without vacuum disconnect. 4.88 or 5.13 gearing can be used to match Nissan 4.90 or 5.143 gears. Another option if only ever used on soft surfaces is going 4.56 on the Dana axle with stock Nissan 4.625 gears. It's not exact, but can be done.

Calmini makes swap kits for doing a leaf sprung swap. There's still a fair amount of fabrication required.
