It's on sale now on New Egg for $179.99 until 10am PST.

Some one buy this! Support for up to 6 monitors and that price is nuts.

I need to get to building another system

2 of these bad boys... Needless to say I wouldn't run 12 monitors, however... Crossfire technology is the boss!

Not only that, but I find my self using Hydra Vision more than I use my 5670 for gaming. As of now I have 2 monitors and 1 42' plasma. I plan on getting a 3rd monitor so I would love to be able to use them all, but with my 5670 I can only run 3 monitors at once :frown:

5870? A little old isn't it? I never recommend last generation cards, even on sale.

I currently have 2 24'' hdmi asus's but would love to go 3 monitors, surrounding me, so I can play kick a** racing games! lol

I have outdated hardware, and have been meaning to build something beast. Micro center isn't far from me, so.

I would think a larger screen would be a bit different, and would want all of them the same size, hahaha! Not for sure, never ran a single big one. My tv will take a cable, but only 1 vid card, sigh

The 5870 is actually more powerful as a single card than the 6870. The 6 series is supposed to scale a LOT better with crossfire.
And only two quarters behind isn't that old.

Its just my build philosophy when it comes to computers. If you are a gamer, video cards outpace themselves so quickly its a little irritating. I typically go for whatever the best card is (within reason of course) and find I get a pretty good life span out of them. By the time I feel the need to upgrade, its pretty much time to build a whole new rig.

I wouldn't look at a 68xx either. Either a 6950 with the potential to unlock to a 6970 or a 560ti is the way to go atm (at least in that price bracket)

Exactly. The tech moves so fast that spending money on anything that's not top-end or near top-end is just throwing your money in the trash.

I agree; but that doesn't mean you shouldn't recommend the card. It all depends on who you are recommending to. I am not a "gamer" but this card is a great deal and I will eventually like to run more than 3 monitors but only have 1 PCI express slot.

Wow that was a heck of a deal, wish I hadn't missed it.

FYI Anandtech has a great page for comparing video cards:

Its back up. And RCA, you are right, I didn't realize how expensive cards that support over 3 monitors are. Looks like the next price point is around $500. I suppose not too many users ever go over 3. You use them for graphics design?

:rotfl No, I have just a massed a great entertainment setup and like the flexibility to be able to use more different monitor setups based off my needs.

This in conjunction with a 4x4 HDMI Matrix allows me to have full control of everything; like which screens get the Xbox, TV and PC inputs. The most screens for PC that I have used is 3 and I probably won't feel comfortable using more than that unless I want to use all three in full screen and than use an extra for monitoring (ie CPU speeds/temps, networking, drive usage or GPU speeds/loads/temps).

GOT DAMN, I need to check this subforum more often. 179 was one helluva deal for 6 monitor support from a proven 5870
