Man this sucks , I'm very sorry to hear, but glad to hear you and your son are okay.

Are you insured for this loss? If so, their first offer will be a low ball, be prepared to counter with facts and figures showing what it's really worth.

If you're going to pull parts, Wes probably has the best $$ for effort list, but allow me to suggest ...

MAFthrottle bodyECUTCUFuel pumpFPCUinterior trim piecesany switchTCS relay under battery traymatsCD changer?

The list could go on and on. think light enough to ship if you decide to sell the parts.

Unfortunately, if it popped the rear door, you hit hard and the insurance company will probably total it. Glad to hear you survived a dangerous situation.

Be prepared to document your car's condition so you can maximize your settlement. And post the good news when you find another.

The insurance should give you full value of all the recent work on top of blue book. They'll probably let you buy it back at salvage value. Make them an offer and use it as leverage against the replacement value.

So two Qs totaled on the same day in the NY NJ metro area. What are the chances. I was out that day too. I'm glad I wasn't the third. The roads wern't so bad by me and I drive like an old lady when the snow comes down. It was a bit slipery out because the few times I did gun it, I could make the traction control go off on 2nd gear at 5000rpms. I better get my snow tires on before I'm next. Getting some snow tomorrow morning. I hope the Q can make it up the hill to work.

Hope you and your boy are alright--fractured ribs would be a nightmare.

At this rate, there won't be any G50s left by the time I am able to get one...Some rich guy needs to start buying them up and preserving them.

Guys,

I feel for you. I can imagine how it feels to have invested all that $$$ only to have it totalled. (Moment of silence for the Q's)

My Q is also a NY'er as well as myself ...found her on the Island back in 98' by searching NY Newsday. Must have looked at about 9 or 10 before I found her sitting clean and pretty. I'm glad I was patient cuz there were many tempting moments that I walked away from. She's been my most dependable car to date and this is coming from someone who owned nothing but Toyotas previously. My biggest expenditure was recently when I had to replace the transmission at 192K.

We left there in 99' for ATL. Can't say I miss the salt n ice as the exhaust tells the tale (rust)... otherwise she is in pretty good shape. Still the cleanest 90' I have seen anywhere. So my suggestion to Jebs.... search the Newsday and look mostly in LI. You may get lucky....

..Drew....

That sucks!

If you are stripping parts, get the fog lights, head lights, tail lights, console wood and ashtray, clock, door controls, cruise control panel, mirrors, 3rd brake light, console lid, floor mats, radio, A/C controls, ECU, TCU, glove box lid, CD Changer, power antenna, Bose speakers, hubcaps, jack, manuals, key fobs, and grille.

I would love to have the little plastic lenses next to the fog lights, the power antenna, and put me in line for the knock sensors, injectors, and harness.

You will get more for all this, than any insurance settlement for a 12 year old Q.

I think I am going to drop full coverage.

If the impact was enough to pop a door, pretty sure there's gonna be some significant structural damage...

Sorry to here that man. I to lost control of my baby on Sunday morning. It snowed about 2:30- 3:00 I did one big spin and hit the curb on the other side of the road. I have alway said that I am a good snow driver but with a heavy car like the Q and low profiles its a very bad problem. I am sorry to hear about you car. I was lucky and the curb stopped me from hitting the light pole.

only four dedicated snow tires on the Q make it road worthy in snow, the same for any rear wheel drive car. all-season tires (even the best), by their nature, have to cut corners with the performance in the four categories. a very good snow tire will never be good in the dry warm weather, and a softer compound designed for excellent handling in the dry will be like a rock in the cold. i used to put four snows on my nissan sentra and i would stake the traction and grip of that with almost any big 4x4. just today, around my city, there was 3 accidents involving suv's. the owners think just because they have 4 wheel drive they can drive just as fast and aggressive as they do in the dry. they find out the hard way about physics. can't stop that much weight on a dime and good luck trying to take a turn on snow covered roads with all that weight heading for the corner, with just two small patches of rubber turning the other way. when you try to explain this to them, like i just did tonight to my physical therapist, they look at you blankly, then say "yeah,,,but i have a 4 wheel drive". ughhhhhh
