I was just going through some pictures from August of 2009 when I took a trip to Houston. We got to the Sam Houston statue in the middle of the night. It says all along the highway "no parking" but since it was 2 AM I figured I'd pull over and get some pictures.



Since I was tired and needed something to wake me up I had the other guy with me boost me up to the platform of the statue, which was about 10 feed off the ground, and so we could get another picture to more fully understand the scale of it.



There were names carved on his shoe but all in all it was pretty awesome.

Just thought I'd share.

Wow, that statue is gigantic. Pretty cool though, that's a sweet picture.

Not directly related, but I just watched "The Alamo" - the one with John Wayne, not the newer one.

I thought he was a good 6 feet tall in the first picture, then I read 10 feet hahahaha that crazy.

Just the platform (where I'm standing) its self is 10 feet tall. I imagine the statue is over 100 feet.

Apparently the statue is 65 feet tall.
