Heres the deal. Yesterday I bought an 89 240sx with 130,000 for $150. The only drawbacks is that is does not have an ignition cylinder or key. This car was impounded for the last two years and no one ever claimed it, so I bought it. Where the ignition cylinder used to be (on the steering column), there are 6 or 7 wires with a plastic connector on the end. I never plan to drive the car on public roads, Im just going to use it as a rally/drift machine. Id like to wire up a push button start or just plain hotwire the car to get it started. Any body have experience in hotwiring 240sx's that can help me out? No I didnt steal the car for those of you who think I may have stolen it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think if you take the VIN to the dealer and explain to them what happened they can make you a key for a few bucks. If not then you'll probably have to get a FSM and figure out the wiring. Or if you get desperate, do a Google search, I'm SURE there are sites explaining how to steal cars.

Ok I'm dumb and I just reread your post and realized what you're saying. You might do better off to get an ignition cylinder. Either way I think you are gonna need wiring diagrams.

Read this thread, it may help you.http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....iring

Nissan didn't start keeping records of keys til like 95. The easiest thing to do is to just get a switch from a yard and not worry about the lock cylinder. That way you don't have to worry about splicing in stuff etc.

I noticed on ebay a week or so ago a set of silvia s13 locks, keys, and ignition cylinder. I am not sure if it is still on their or not but you may find one on their.

Thanks for the help. I was able to start it up with a screwdriver :D The car sat for two years and fired up in 3 CRANKS with no starting fluid or anything. There is still a problem though. It will run, but wont move. Let is warm up for about 30 minutes and then shift to any for ward or reverse gear (its an auto), and it wont move. We pulled the transmission pan and to our horror we found disgusting brown fluid with grey sparkles and what appeared to look like sprinkles that would be on a donut, only they were metal. Im sure that this transmission is toast. Is there somewhere that I could find a S13 automatic transmission for super cheap? If it matters, I have the SOHC KA24E. Is there a difference between the SOHC and DOHC auto trannys? Thanks in advance.

if you're still looking for a transmission email me at [email protected]

I can make you a bad *** deal on a built transmission if you will arrange the shipping.
