If you do decide to fix it then be prepared for a long and expensive journey. I'd say 3-5k worth of parts is not unreasonable given the history of the 1991 Q. For example, have the timing chain rings been redone? If not that is a ticking time-bomb. The transmission, notorious for failing, ticking time bomb, you need transmission cooler ASAP. My Dad had a wonder 1992 that he put over 7k worth of warranty work into before giving to me for 6 months. I chased gremlins for 6 months, we finally sold it and the timing guides blew up the 2nd day the new guy owned the car.
The 91' was a great car but there is alot of work to make this a good/safe/reliable car. If your prepared, at the end of the day you could have a great Q, but this is not necessary the act of sane person.....but emotional to take a once great car and make it great again.
