I am wondering, what is the function of the Safety Shield button? It is the button with the car surrounded by 3 circles. Is it to activate the safety features? I would think that the default for safety features is on when the ignition is on. However this button's default is off. Does this mean I have to turn the safety features on each and every time I drive the car?

I checked the manual, it was not there. It was on the supplemental manual, but the explanation was very vague.

If you're referring to the button next to the ECO button, it's not a "Safety Shield Button". That button is for the Lane Departure Warning system. Watch the last video below.

Is it possible that the "Lane Departure Warning" feature is enabled through the dashboard menu, while the "Lane Departure Prevention" feature (ie: the feature that moves your vehicle if you're drifting), is enabled by pressing the button (looks like a circle graphic around a car) near the Heated Steering Wheel, Eco button, etc?

hercules130, there are two different switches depending on the features you have n your 2017 Rogue.

The switch with a speaker icon on the top right is to temporarily turn off blind spot warning (BSW). This is a passive system that doesn't intervene, it just aids by warning you.

The switch without a speaker icon on the top right is to turn on Lane Departure Prevention (LDP). This is an active system that will actually intervene and assist to correct your course, so you need to turn it on when you want to use it.it is default off since they want to make sure you enable this active system when you see fit.

Hope this helps.
