Hi guys. Im currently rebuilding a CA and am going to be putting it in my Corolla. I recently picked up a T28 and am curious how I can run this reliably. I have a fairly stock setup, just with a FMIC and BOV. Do I need to bump it up to 440cc injectors and a Z32 MAF?

Keep it under 12 psi with the stock tune/injectors/MAF and you should be fine.

Upgrade to rom tune/440cc injectors/z32 MAF and then you can safely raise the boost up to around 17 psi.

Thanks. I already have a walbro 255 pump. Do I need a reclocking kit to run the T28?

yea you need to reclock it. just use a torch to heat it. its pretty simple.

I've ran my T28 on 10psi for a summer or two with the same clutch that came with the engine when I got it from Japan Star Motor back in 2008 and everything holds up. a/f numbers are still in the 10 and 11's with stock MAF, tune, and injectors with a Nismo FPR and walbro fuel pump at 36psi static fuel pressure.

Thanks! I have a hookup on the gktech reclocking kit, I don't mind spending money to save headaches.

i purchased the Greddy S13 w/ T28 intake kit. came with elbows and everything for the turbo and the intake. I think it was like $350? Really good stuff...just incase you want more than just the clocking plates lol

Bumpin this up because I picked up a S15 turbo, should I be fine running 1 event on 10 psi with stock ECU or will it lean out?

Do you run a wideband on the car? If you do, give it a try and if you stay within a safe level, your ecu is properly compensating and you should be alright.

With my old SR, I ran a GTI-R T28 with oversized compressor wheel, stock 370cc injectors and stock maf... just bumped the fuel pressure 2psi and ran 18psi... I really think you should be fine. Like I said make sure your AFR is within reason.

The stock ecu is pig rich from the factory as it is, and it won't really let you do much to kill the engine in stock form. You should be fine as long as you're not hitting boost cut. IIRC it's about 14psi on the stock turbo, so 10psi on the T28 might be close. The wastegate spring on the T28 is like 5-7 psi, so if you hit the cut, you should be able to back the boost down a couple of pounds and not damage anything. Even when you hit the factory cut, I think the injectors are only at 70%, so you should be fine.

Although kind of unrelated to you running the t28 safely (unless you plan to run a manual controller, lol), what kind of boost controller are you going to run? Also I'm glad you chose ACT over Spec, I don't like my Spec, as it has barely over stock pedal feel (not my daily driver so I wanted it stiffer).

Either I'm just a pansy from not driving a stick in over a year, or this thing is just stiff! It's rad, gonna make clutch kicking super fun (not that I need it haha). Turbo smart mbc for now.
