alright, so when i bought this car, both door panels had been painted black, apparently spray painted. the pass. side is a pretty good job, but the drivers side must have been rushed or something, so it really rough and just not a good job at all. i was wondering if there is something that i can use to remove the paint without damaging the vinyl under it? i want the original texture of the vinyl to remain intact, if possible.

i was planning on using this paint afterwards. http://www.autobarn.net/dupvinfabspr.html

does this look like a good paint to use? thanks.

There's a possibility you can remove it with the product they use to prep vinyl for dye.

An automotive paint supply store will have it.

Otherwise, scuff it, prep with surface cleaner, and re-shoot with vinyl dye.

My guess is the person who dyed them before didn't prep one panel very well. Gotta get ALL the old Armor-All and greasy silicone crap off the doors.

Cool, thanks. Also, is there any good way to repair a hole in the panel? I tried to repair it before with some goop you stuffed in the hole and then heated with a little iron that I bought from AutoZone (probably the mistake right there) and it looked great at first, but then split like crazy the very next day. Could be because it was in the middle of the summer and my car got to 120+ degrees inside after being in the full sun all day. There's still enough left to try again, so maybe I will soon while it's cooler.

Nah, I'd say replace the panel. S-chassis door panels are pretty easy to find.

I had some very tiny holes in mine that I repaired with black weatherstrip adhesive... But they were really small (1mm).

i'm sure u can use lacquerthinner to get it off but not sure if it will damage the vinyl or adheasive under if it soaks through. You'd havwe to test a small area and be carefull.
