Just get high-flow cats, no need to kill the air, no big gain from removal would be expected.

You are spending this much money on luxury sports cars you can handle a set of cats.

Does buddy know they aren't as simple as a straight piece of pipe?

First ones I come across are $600 but I'm sure there have to be some cheaper ones out there.

If its a muffler shop he could bend what he needs to then, they just aren't a stright piece of pipe like a lot of cats are.

I'm sure you know it won't sound like a turbo car, because a turbo acts like a muffler. My friend had a z with sraight pipes and loved it, but it was extremly LOUD and raspy like a race car. He said it gave him some hp but you know how people are lol

This is gonna sound like complete sh*t and smell like sh*t as well. It has already been recommended that you get high flow cats, but hey what do we know.

The opinion to NOT remove it and replace with high flow cats. This is not a forced induction application that sounds completely different than a NA application without cats. You are going to hate the sound, hate the drone & rasp. Give it a shot, who knows you may like it...

It's all about what you like. The cars also come with resonators after the CATS to help with the raspy sound. As for the difference between having a high-flow cat and straight pipe, there is no difference in power. You may have a very small gain in the straight pipe, but the noise will be much louder. I would follow it up with a good aftermarket CAT-back system!

Happy modding!!

Get some HFC - when changing out the stock cats you will lose some low end torque for high end power. If you do this with test pipes it is more dramatic but you will rasp as well.

HFC - $300-600

you could also get the MOTORDYNE ART pipes = $580 - tuned test pipes that sound much better and add low end torque PLUS high end power

Yes the ART pipes look like a great option. Been eye balling them myself.

the ART pipes when paired up with headers haven't really shown the same kind of gains, so i lost the eye for them...but i have a friend rockin them on his sedan and lovin it.
