Safe to remove bracket (or crossmember?) that secures steering rack in place?
So im going to overhaul my M's (2006 M35 RWD) front suspension with new control arms, rack, tie rods, etc, and one of the things I need to replace is the bracket that holds the steering rack, I know for sure it's bent. However, online I cant fine anything from the service manuals in regards to torque values or if it's even safe to remove. Anyone have experience?

The steering rack is usually held in place by 2 large bolts with nuts on top.
Could you post a picture of the general area, or the specific bracket you're referring to?

I found it in the service manual "Front Suspension" on page FSU-8, item 16. Apparently it's called a "rack stay" and the bolts call for 76 ft lbs. I can't post a photo on my phone but I know the part number is 544c4-eg00a. Have you had experience removing this by chance?
