Has anyone gotten their windshield repaired with this safe lite resin stuff? I want to know if this is a permanent fix, or if the resin will break down over time and the chip reappear. I plan on tinting the windshield, and I know they have a guarantee, but that guarantee does not include replacing my tint. Or should I just replace the whole windshield and call it a day. If you did fix a chip, how long ago?

I had them fix a chip over two years ago, it's still visible and still looks chipped, but it hasn't turned into a crack with outside parking for two summers and winters (and it doesn't feel like a chip or cause wiper blade problems). They said if it turned into a crack I'd get a new windshield free. If that's the guarantee, I would think two tint installations on account of failure should be cheaper than a windshield and tint upfront (unless windshields are cheaper than I realize when you don't have LDW, you don't have LDW, and the tint you want is more expensive than I realize).

Most of the time you'll still see the chip and you'll see it even more when tinted. :yesnod

Is tinting the front windshield legal in NY? (I assume you are asking about the front windshield.) In California, this would be illegal below the top few inch band across the glass.

Regardless, I agree that tint will likely show the resin filled area a bit more obviously than without tinting. I have seem poor tint jobs where a small fleck of dirt got left on the glass prior to tinting and it seemed to exaggerate the differences a bit.

It's also NOT legal in NJ, we can't even have any tint on the front doors :nono:

I don't think it's legal to tint the windshield anywhere. I did mine because I feel like it makes the tint job look complete. Cant have the car tinted and then the windshield not be done. It looks funny IMHO

For those of you that tinted the windshield, what did you do about the inspection and reg sticker? Did you cut an opening for them? Or did you just stick them onto the tint? If you put them on the tint, when it came time to change them, did it pull up/rip the tint at all?...causing you to retint.
