Hey guys i got my car back a while ago from the well traveled path of an sr swap. I was just wondering safe boost levels on an sr with 25k km with an intake intercooler and bov. Ill probably keep it stock anyway because this is all the power i need for now but i was just curious for future tuning.

12-14psi is pretty safe

I have heard numbers from 8psi(stock) to 13psi are safe with the stock internals. Personally, I wouldnt boost more than 10psi as I have heard the S13 SR20 can safely be boosted up to 250hp before you need to worry about upgrading parts. Not sure which SR20 you said you have though.

Hy:

Why do you recommend no more than 13 psi in daily driving if you feel 18 psi is safe on stock internals?

Isn't anything above .9bar out of it's efficency range?

What intercooler are you running? Stock or FMIC? If it's stock, the SMIC will only be efficient until about 10psi. I wouldn't run it any higher than that for sure. Upgraded FMIC's (Blitz, HKS, etc) will withstand 22psi if needed. Also, the stock T-2-Small will hold about 14 psi, then will start to fall off. So if you are running a fairly stock set-up, I think the safe bet would not go beyond 10psi (daily driven) if you have a stock SMIC and 14psi if you are running a upgraded FMIC. That's just my .02

1 BAR is max with FMIC and Fuel Pump. Anything higher and the turbo is inefficient. The stock internals can handle way more than the T25 can throw at it. There are many people making 400whp in every day driven cars with stock blocks. There are even 4 cars that have made over 500whp on stock blocks.

You're injectors will max out at around 250whp but the MAF sensor is good to about 270-280.

So your limiting factors considering you are running a FMIC are the 1. the turbo 2. the injectors 3. the stock fuel pump should be replaced for anything above stock boost.

My car with FMIC, Intake, Exhaust, Fuel Pump put down 244.1 on 1 bar of boost.

Don't forget your exhaust to. It is the biggest bottleneck of the whole system if it is still factory.

The turbo is rated for about 15 PSI max. Just remember that 14-15 PSI is the top end of the operating conditions for the T25. I'm running about 13-14 PSI before the IC and the only problem I've encountered so far is the fuel pump (I really need to get that upgraded...) And unless you're going WOT all the time, the turbo will hardly get spooled all the way up.

even with an walbro pump i fear my stock injectors. I've only gone as high as 14psi (T25, upgraded pump, greddy Fmic) once. I run stock boost unless I need more.

the stock injectors should be fine, but my only issue with them is their age. age will really play havoc on parts that weren't properly taken care of.
