So I just orderd a Slowboy Racing manual boost controller for my hatch and would like to know a safe boost level to match the mods on my car.

current setup:

CA18DET (good compression)Metal HGFMICBlitz SS BOVBlitz Access ECUBlitz FilterS15 BB T28(wastegate pressure, 6-7psi)3" strait exhaust with 3" fartcanWalbro 255 FPz32 fuel filter93 octane fuel ONLY!!!

Pretty much everything else engine-wise is stock including the injectors, MAF sensor, and I think the FPR is stock or non existant (I wouldnt know what it looks like or where it is if I do have one, let alone know what to do with it lol)

Im geting realy bored of 6psi of boost and would like to bump it up a notch or two, I just dont know of a safe maximum boost seting to work well with what I have. Im hoping I can get away with 9-10psi before having to upgrade injectors and whatnot but if not what do you all think?

Thanks in advance, it will be about a week before it gets here so if I left something important out let me know and I will let ya know. -Shane

P.S. What is the expected HP gain per PSI of boost added?

well depending on the tune of your ecu...you should be good for about 14-15psi with no problem. you have everything you need for the boost level. someone correct me if i am wrong but from what i see on the SXOC.co.uk forum...the brits are running that level of boost with those mods.

Dayum! 14psi??That would be sweet, but I think 9-10 should hold me over untill I get more suporting mods.Id rather play it safe but thanks for the peace of mind! Any idea how much power my motor is making at the crank with my current setup and after the added boost? Id like to get a dyno tune sometime soon, plus Im kinda curious what this thing puts to the ground.

RS12Turbo is running a similar level of mods and is getting 211whp after his tune. He's got a smaller turbo(SR T25G) and is running a SAFC 2 instead of a tuned ECU, and doesn't have a metal HG, other than that it's pretty similar.

That's at 13psi as well.

With a t28 I'd keep it at 10-11 psi or so until you get some bigger injectors. That should put you in the slightly over 200 whp range.

good point about maximum boost as i did not think about what injectors he may be running. I was assuming with that stage of tune he would have done that. bwana does have a really good point!

Stock injectors on a GT28R should max out around 10-12psi or so. I would be afraid to go above 10psi without a FPR and wideband.

It also looks like u have a stock AFM. So the max ull be able to safely is about 200whp. I just did 211whp on 10psi s14 t28 stock injectors but I got an s14 sr AFM.

So I would look for a z32 afm and possibly an safc2.

YES!!! my MBC came right after i got back from geting Megan Turbo back installed (needed minor modification to fit) right out of the box it was set at 11psi. On the first test run i slowly crept the boost till it peaked at 11 and held all the way to 6500rpms when i let off. SMOOOTH baby! no hickups, pops, breaking up or anythign. never heard my turbo wake up like that lol. I cant belive i didnt do this earlier. I think im gonna refrain from flooring it all the way untill i turn the boost down or get supporting fuel mods, but its already WAY faster that before, even at 2/3 throttle it whoops *** more than it did. Thanks fellas for all the info!
