I think my safcII may have shorted out but i just wanted to run this by you guys. It's been acting funny over the last couple weeks- it gets power and turns on but i'm not getting any readings aside from sensor check... no rpm, no afl, no rev, no nothing. and my car has been running really rich. so i started going through the wiring i definitely found a bad ground on afc harness where it goes into the ecu. (when I wiggled the black and brown grounding wires around the safc would turn on and off). so i fixed the ground making sure i had perfect contact, hooked everything back up and started the car. --- same deal, got power but no readouts. so ya think my afc is fried due to the bad ground??? oh yeah i don't know if it matters but my ecu is giving me code 55 which means everything is cool right?
How did you do your wiring? Crimp? Tap? Twisted together and electrical tape? Well I'd redo all the wiring first with solder and heat shrink... electrical tape if your lazy. But "ALWAYS" solder. Wouldn't want a leaned out engine because some splice somewhere came loose while at the drag strip. Not good.

i've been going through the wiring on this car and i'm finding one problem afte another... everytime i find something suspicious i take off the sticky old duct tape and solder the wires back together... i'm afraid i've got bad grounds all over this car. the next one i'm gonna look for is the maf. man whoever wired this car should be shot

Anyway.. I hate it when you get a car and someone has severely treated it like crap. At least THIS car i have now was only internally abused. The wiring is still alright. I can't say so much for my 73 El Camino when I kept pulling spaghetti messed of strange wires from behind the dash because it was all grounding to crap.. Nuts.
