hi guys,

i have finished putting my ca18det engine together... now, i have an apexi SAFCII, z32 AFM and 550cc installed... i already did this sensor type input with the values: 02 IN and 07 OUT - in order to make the AFM work...

now my question is, if one of u could please tell me step by step what i need to do to set up the 550cc... i am confused with the hi/lo throttle settings, and hope that one of you have the same setup and can just tell me what values i need to insert so that i can make this thing run good... (better more rich than lean)

i also have the stage2 (set for standard 370cc) chip installed in order to remove the fuel cut... my other specs are: wiseco 84mm pistons, HKS 1,6mm head gasket, gt28rs turbo, full engine back exhaust, z32 brakes and AFM, FMIC, oil cooler, 550cc, safcII etc....

if some of u are running the safc with simular setup to mine, please let me know step by step (for dummies) on how the make this 550cc work properly...

thanks guys!

nick

First things first, turn the boost down as low as it will go. For the lo throttle settings, I would just compensate for the 550s which flow about 33% more than the 370s. In that case, I would set the idle setting to around -10% -- -12% (to compensate for the dead time of the injectors) and then set my lo-throttle settings to around -30%. Same with the hi-throttle. Then, get your *** to a dyno to dial in the lo and hi-throttle settings with a wideband. With the boost down all the way and the low settings at those numbers, the car will run rich, but at least it will be safe until you can get some proper tuning. Just lay off the boost.

EDIT: I've always found it best to set the throttle points where 40% is low and 80% is high. You are rarely in between there when driving.

i would actually set the low/high throttle points lower. you want the low throttle point right around what thottle percent you cruise at (like 17-19% for me) and the high throttle around the point where you get full boost (on the stock T25, its around 55-60% throttle.)

???? I already told you what to set them at. I hope you are not asking for an answer like, "Spin the dial left until the percentage drops to -30%" The instructions on how to use the SAFCII are available at http://www.apexi-usa.com

if you dont know how to use it, you shouldn't be using it. bring it to someone who does, who also has at least a wide band.
