wiring up my safc 2 finally today, just looking for any tips or suggestions before i do. its going into a 91 hatch with sr redtop. i did do alittle reading didnt find to much on the wiring process. my guess is that its a pretty easy wireing job just splice all those wires into the harness

yeah go to the apex'i sight and download all the tech and install info. one of the most important things to note is the way the 2 grounding wires (black and brown) are spliced into the ecu grounding wire. i just finished my safcII install and I did it with the info on their site. It can be a little confusing though so if you have any questions maybe i can help. also you should try to solder and heat wrap wherever possible.

sorry part of my question got cut off... what i really wanted to know was what diagram in the book am i supposed to go by, there is 2 for the 180sx N3a and n3b. it says 91- somethin n3b but i dont think thats right. the spot the rpm signal wire is at is empty.(according to N3b but if i use n3a i have all the wires). If maybe someone can take a picture of how u have it wired up i would really appreciate it.(a good picture please) thanks for the help so far

okay that's weird cause i have the same ecu. #62 is definitely the one for the sr20det powered 180sx w/5spd. and that should be diagram n3-b. my wiring diagram matched fine though. you sure you're looking at it from the right side? i'm sending you an email that includes pinout info for your ecu. hopefully it'll help.

yes you need to ground the brown wire!! it's very important that you do it exactly the way it's described in the apexi install manual. It has to be about a half inch away from the black grounding wire. BOTH of them need to be spliced into the SAME ground wire on the harness. Attach the black one first and then about a half inch down TOWARD the ecu attach the brown one. this is a very important step. the purple knock wire is also important. it may not be very accurate but the instruction manual says that it is important for your initial setup. i don't know what to tell you about not having the wire in your harness. as long as the other wires are hooked up right and it's grounded correctly it may work anyway. the car should at least start without the knock wire... by the way what type of wideband o2 sensor are you using???

im using an o2 from a 95 tt 300zx probably one of the reasons i run rich. and as soon as u said how the 2 ground go on the same wire i knew it. the one guy i no was telling me how they have to be like a centimeter apart and some **** like that. i still dont no what i am going to do about the knock sensor because that pin is empty. thanks for all the help ill let you no how it goes(hopefully good) thanks again

isn't that a narrowband o2 sensor though? if it is it's probably not gonna help you tune the car.

ok so ur sayin ill probably still run rich then? the only reason i am using the 300 o2 was because i bought a turbo outlet and the stock o2 didnt fit in the threads so i just threw that one in. also on the diagrams it shows the knock sensor as a white wire. i believe i have a wire at that pin but its a light brown, should i try this wire?

i highly doubt that u really need the knock sensor wire to be hooked up, if urs doesnt have a pin for it i wouldnt worry about it, it is just used to monitor knock but ive heard that its not very accurate at all anyways. Get a wideband o2 kit or put it on a dyno that can read air/fuel ratios before attempting to adjust fuel

i have a pin for the knock sensor the wire there isnt white though its a light brown... if i didnt have the knock sensor hooked up wouldnt my car run in limp mode??? where can i get a wide band o2 kit for a decnt price. thanks for the help so far

im not saying cut the wire, im saying that i dont think its nessecary to wire in the knock sensor to the safc if u are not sure about the wire. I am running an innovate LM-1 wideband kit with a RPM converter but i cant get it to work right. i think it was a little less than $400 for it but it is easy to use and i like it.

hey, i got the safc2 hooked up right i just have a question about the initial setup. i selected the sensore type hot wire then it takes you to the screen that says "sensor no. then says input 01 output 01" what am i supposed to put there? i tried finding it in the book didnt see anything. ok and then when i select car type i put 4 cylinder and right next to the engineselection it says thro(i think thats what it says) but it either give the option of n arrow pointing up down or ** two stars like that... please help me with this its probably common sense but im dumb

In and Out on a Stock SR with stock MAF is 6 and 6.

The Cylinders and the arrow need to be set 4 ^ the up arrow stand for which way the voltage reads when you apply throttle. As you apply throttle voltage goes up hince the up arrow. ** is niether its used for some cars down arrow is for TPS that read full voltage at closed and 0 when full open.

So the hotwire setting is 6 in 6 out... ?

What about all of the other sensor settings?? I need them for a Redtop SR, I just installed my SAFC II today and I need to know all of those initial settings.
