I just installed an safc2 and the reading for rpm's is waayy off. it reads 200rpm at idle. I followed the directions with the pin chart and everything. chassis:rps13engine: s13 blacktopecu: E5Can someone also verify that my ecu is correct for my engine. It runs fine but for some reason i have doubt in my mind. Thanks in advance guys.

also, i followed the pin out for a 1996.8-1998.12 180sx sr20det. The pin out for the older model has only one difference-the rpm tap is like one slot over. I think this may be the problem. Can anyone clarify this? I thought black tops were newer.

Do you have an S13 blacktop or an S14 blacktop in your car?

I also have the E5 and I have a redtop. Go with 91-94 SR on the instructions. My SAFC2 runs perfect.

yep you've overshot the wire to tap. use the one for the srs that run from 91-96. 96-98 ecu's are the J4's and what not. All you've done is tap the coilpack2 output signal.

did it, works great. Now how do i tune it. I dont have a wideband o2 sensor yet but i was just wondering if there was anything i can "safely" do to run more efficient.

I wouldnt muck with the settings until you get your hands on a wideband.

Ditto that. Or at bare minumum read narrowband voltages and get an EGT gauge, but I'd only recommend that if you know how to tune a car and have done others before.
