there is no reason you need an safc for your s14.

the only reason you need one is to use a bigger maf on a motor w/out reflashing the ecu, and that really is only a really good bandaid.

if you only have NA mods/ 0 mods, you will gain NOTHING from installing such a device other than something shiny that blinks on your dash. in 2002ish, they were acceptable as tunes/tuners were not as common or affordable. now-a-days, forget it.

have fun detonating.

And because you'll ignore greeneyes anyway, you have to wire them in at the ECU. On an S13 it's in the passenger side kick panel. dk about S14.

Find the pinout for the ECU.

Black and brown wires go to the ground.Pink and orange wires connect to the MAF, I believe pink on the ECU side, orange on the MAF side (may be the other way around).Red is power. Green is RPM or TPS can't remember Gray is RPM or TPS... can't remember

You don't use the other wires. Tape them off.

Find the pinout in the FSM. Find exactly where the wires go and how to wire them in on Apexi's website.

It's been a few years since I've put a SAFC into a DSM, but whatever. Might help.

took me two seconds....

and yes, you can gain power so dont listen to green eyes. if youre on a dyno with a tuner who knows what theyre doing with a wideband hooked up you can squeeze out some extra power. not only that, you can conserve fuel for better mpg. the safc is also good for metering things such as rpms (ALOT more accurate than the stock tach), throttle position, air flow, and i think theres some more but i forget). theres also a play back mode that lets you put whatever you want on a timed graph, and you can go back and look at it. it would be good for autox use only.... it probably wont tell you much, but its white and black data right in front of you which could be useful in a given situation.

theyre known as piggybacks. i ran my first s14 with one of these, 555s, and a n62 maf on 17 psi. tuned with a wideband on the street/highway. this was three years ago, and the car is still running strong to this day. i was also running an apexi ITC for timming. i had them laying around, so i used them. it worked very well. i find the safc very nifty for its price. on an s14 the ecu is in the passenger side kick panel. make sure you look at your ecu the right way compared to the afc wiring diagram.

I run an apexi neo on my car. SR20 with 13psi on the t25. I tuned it myself on the street with a wideband, and the motor still runs like the day it was installed after 4 years of daily driving, multiple 1/4 mile runs and opening it up on the street on a daily basis. I know of at least 3 people besides who use afc's and have no problems whatsoever.

Not sure where the AFC hate came from, must be one of those nico things where everybody hates on what isn't top of the line.
