Which would you guys prefer? Going with an SAFC and tuning it to run 444cc injectors and a Z32 maf or just getting a chip done to do the same things?

Here is my problem.... I am gettin all this junk to put on the car on Friday and I am going to need a management system like now. I can get the SAFC pretty readily, but don't have access to a dyno to tune it. So I could set it up to run the injectors and the MAF, but will still have speed cut, boost cut, and no real way of remapping the fuel/timing curves to suit the new upgrades.

But if I go with a ROM tune, I can get all the upgrades needed, plus speed cut, plus boost cut, and also having remapped timing curves.

Costs are going to be about the same, so which would you guys do?

Things that are important to me....handling current modifications going on the carease of useease of availibilityreliability

not important.....costupgradable (once the bolt-on's are on... they are on for good)bling factor

I am leaning towards just going with a chip, but I need this thing back up and running as soon as possible. Jon, do your chips have upgraded fuel/timing curves? If I don't go with your "Spork" chip, I am going with a Horsham Stage 2. Again, everyone please chime in.

Joe

ROM tune is BS unless you can get it remapped for free every time you change something. For light tuning in the 300 and below range you can use piggy back if you know what you are doing and progress slowly. I tuned out 370cc CA18DET injectors on a CA18DE that had 260cc OE ones without a glitch. It sounds like it would be wise for you to put off some of the more expensive mods so you can step into a stand-alone. ROM tune is not convenient unless you have the capability to burn the chip yourself or the shop, as I said, will remap it over and over again without hitting you up for more money. If you are serious about tuning out the engine a standalone is it period.

hows the cost anywhere near the same??

joe, i have a ECU i can trade you with socket already in it. ill put in the z32 and 450 injectors program, and then when ever your readyi will even drag joel along to any dyno time you have to tune , he knows way more about the rom tune stuff then i .

and we can change fuel and timming maps, but only once its on a wideband O2. also buy a EGT gauge !!!!!!! money well well spent i tell you!! with the money you save from the AFC get the EGT gauge.

joel says the chip is 15$ that includes any futher tuning. you might have to buy lunch but other then that it should be cool
