I've been running a tuned ecu on my set up. ( t25, and 550cc's)I just bought a safc ( old style with the knobs) and wonder should I keep my ecu and forget the safc or use only the safc or use both together.I have never had any experiance with a safc, so that is why I went with a tuned ecu.The reason I ask is that I run a little rich, a little more than I would like so I could use the safc to fine tune after the ecu or just use the safe and go back to stock ecu.I just don't know the best option for me.

If the car is running great right now, then don't change it. What you need to do is see if it's slightly rich across the board or only in certain area's. Do you have access to a wideband?

If it's rich everywhere there you can buy an adjustable FPR if you don't already have one. Then lower the fuel pressure to lean her out.

Your plugs, wires and O2 sensor can also effect how well the fuel is burned.

I want to get to a dyno to get it checked by some one who knows a little more. I just wasn't sure if I should use ti to augment my tuned ecu for fine tuning or just use the safc by itself, because I have two more 240's and 3 more turbos. And I could use whichever one I don't use on one of them.

Tuned ECU > SAFC Tuned ECU + SAFC/Wideband > Tuned ecu

Your tuned ecu will always be running on the rich side for safety. Honestly, this is fine because blowing motors sucks.

However, if you have a wideband you can squeeze 10-20 hp out of your current tune, just make sure you keep safe afrs. Never push the AFRs to the limit, a cold day or whatever can cause you to run lean.

A safc can also save you gas, you can lean out cruising and idle afrs significantly.

I personally wouldnt use one of the dial style AFC's. Few correction points, and the risk of your friends hitting the knob and trashing your settings ftl. The safc2 or even one is so cheap theres no reason not to just use that one.

However all that aside, WD has a point about 'if its not broke, dont fix it.' Your call

Thanks guys, I think I'll get my car checked first to see where it's rich. Then if it's not too bad, then I'll be turboing another car, maybe two. I may go with WD's favorite with an FMU.

I love how nonchalant you are about being able to boost two other 240s.....

I have turbo's and I have cars. Should they not be merged? lolNot trying to sound like an a-hole or anything, I just happent to have the cars and parts, so why not. KA-T rocks, but a n/a ka is no fun for me.
