I honestly wouldnt put a safc in unless you had some sort of monitoring tool such as a wideband. The thing is, if you put it in and start messing around with the settings, you could lean or richen it up too much causeing catastrophic engine failure.

Some are more complicated than others. I use the PLX gauge type. I like it because it is a wideband with a narrow band output. What this means is you actually replace your stock o2 sensor in your downpipe with the PLX sensor, then run the provided wire to your ECU. DONE!! It somewhat, automatically compinsates your AFR's as your factory o2 did by telling the ecu what the AFR's are. Down side to this is you have to make sure your engine setup is in excellent working order. No exhaust leaks ect. because it will cause it to try and correct the problem throwing your #'s all over the scale. I know because my car started hunting. AEM makes a good one as well. I dont think it has the narrow band output so you would have to weld an additional bung in your down pipe, but its a great monitoring tool. Hope this helps a little
