JonPowell will come on here pretty soon and tell you that SAFC is bad. I figured I would try to beat him to it.

From what I gather you are better off going with a direct fuel control rather than tricking a sensor which is what SAFC does I think.

Here's a link about SAFC vs. Emanagehttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=76701

i wouldnt run a SAFC with anywhere near an injector that size.

yes a SAFC tricks the computer to thinking there is more/less air comming into the engine therefore it changes the fuel maps, ESPICALLY on RB's this part is important, since its changing airflow, that also changes IGNITION maps. a SAFC can wreak havok on your ignition timing if you are making drastic changes.

people in australia do it and say it works fine, i'm burning a eprom to handle my 550cc's and z32 maf then using the safc2 to make minor adjustments

I hate emanage. Well it didn't likemy KA-T. If you get the gold version (newer) as opposed to blue, it has better wiring, injectors are not spliced, they are (in and out thru the emanage)

They are right however on the fact that the SAFC can create havoc with the timing. This is caused by the computer seeing a lower duty cycle on the injectors because they are so big. It can be compinsated for by regulating fuel preesure down to make the injectors work harder. dsmtuners.com has more info on this. Different engine same concepts. But they're right, full management is the way to go. Check out http://www.link-electro.co.nz/home.html for a full plug and play solution. It's an AU company but they have US distributors.

Haltech baby, Haltech!

SAFC just lies to your ECU, its not for tuning its for decieving. It is cool for simple upgrades like bigger MAF, but not for injectors & such.

Custom eprom chip or the emulator are the only way to fly

I use it on my KAT and it works fine, but I also have MSD controlling my timing.

The emanage with timing control is a good option.

im using a SAFC on my rb25 right now. works better then nothing.

upgraded turbo was bringing more air causing it to run so rich it was choking itself. taking around 17% up top and still running around a 10afr.

but i agree with most people that its iffy. when we tried to tune it to a 11afr it got sketchy. wouldnt keep the same afrs for some wierd reason.

but with upgraded injectors i would NOT use a safc. the safc would do to much (i think)

...anyways, AEM is on the way!

safc's have taken dsm's into the 9's if i recall correctly. granted it's not an rb25, but it's very tunable.
