I am installing a SAFC in my s13. As of right now i have pulled the engine and transmission and i am waiting patiently for my clutch to come in. I figured i would try hooking up the safc while i wait. Today i got everything spliced in place. I soldered all connections and followed the diagrams perfectly. I used the world n3-b diagram to hook up the safc as said on apexi's website. I have gone back and re-soldered the 2 grounds and power wires and i still cannot get the thing to turn on. I was told that the safc would still turn on even if there is not engine in the car. As long as it is getting power. Any ideas? Anything helps. Thanks,~Sam

if you have a voltmeter check to make sure that you're getting power and ground. if you arent, fix the faulty wire. if you are and the unit still isnt on, send it back i guess. make sure the wires you tapped into for power have power with just the key on or else it will stay on forever. also, check the fuse for whatever circuit you tapped into. i wish i could help you more but i havent had a chance (or the money) to pick up a safc yet so im not too familiar with them.

okay you pulled your engine is your ground by anychance disconnected. if you pulled the motor then your ground to your engine should be disconnected... make shure your battery is grounded. i dont know much about the safc, but i do know when you pull the motor you disconnect the main ground. im not too shure about the twin cam motor, but theory is basic that most battery grounds hook up to the engine.

i redid the wiring with dummy proof (i think) wire taps and nothing still turns on. But i did take a voltmeter to the different places i tapped and im only getting 1 or less volts to all places so im thinkin this means the wire taps are not working well. I tested the harness just before the afc it it showed the same low voltage. So it was getting power just not much. ~Sami hate wires

Are you useing the Generation 1 SAFC or the Generation 2 digital.I'm wondering cuz I am wondering which one would be better just to fine tune my car with just simple bolt ons.

Would you know this from experience with the 2 controllers,or from your own personal opinion with the S-AFC2?

despite the fact that this thread is almost older than dirt...

yes i did figure out the problem. The ECU and other electronics wont get power without a ll the grounds attatched. So i took all of the engine grounds from the harness, touched em together and they worked.~Sam
