Why not try a used MAF.....or spray clean your MAF carefully. How will you pass emissions with bad cats and a MAF?

Nothing beats the oem MAF for accuracy.

he tested the maf, put another maf on the car, and checked the o2 sensors, he thinks the exhaust is getting caught up by the loose catlyst and the o2 sensors are double reading, but rather then spend all that money getting 2 cats replaced and possibly still not passing emmisions id rather just bypass all of it and pull back the fuel manually

This I gotta see*..............................be sure to post your passing emission readings certificate.

I'll send this to EPA for a in field inspection, those guys are bored and need a field trip and an example person to send to Federal Prison for fraud. that's how they get promotions and grade steps.

Just kidding but watch what you post on web. You are admitting to a Federal Crime. EMISSION TAMPERING with intent to commit FRAUD.

Nico will comply with a Federal subponea assuredly. Don't think such things don't or can't happen to you. Admittedly rare but?............BUBBA scares me.

true, but if i change anything on my j it will be to permanently fix the problem and get it within emmisions standards, is that still illegal? i just need it to pass and get some better gas mileage, im at about 200 miles per tank right now, if im changing it to make less i dont see a problem, maybe im wrong, i dunno.

You must maintain oem design or pay the $100,000 to have the EPA recertify your new design. Much like the California CARB approval testing proceedure but much more severe!

No company has ever been able to come close to the entire emission testing proceedure without cats and precats.

Don't confuse the simple State test for passing the Federal dyno battery of tests................all emissions from start up thru the driving cycle are stored in gigantic air bags the size of houses and all is evaluated.

State tests are just designed to test oem as built systems not modified systems.
