Can you tune a SAFC II if you do not have a wideband? I'm planning on getting one soon and a wideband but they're both so expensive. If I just get the SAFC II is there a way to tell the A/F with just the SAFC?

If I can tune it to some extent with just the SAFC II I'll get the SAFC II and tune it some and save up for a wideband. If not then I'll just save until I can afford both at the same time.

Is it possible? yes. Is it safe? no. The only way you could tune without a wideband is use other people's settings... which isnt safe because it varies from car to car, and injector sizings sometimes arent precise ect ect. Or just make runs until it feels like it runs good, which, is a great way to lean your car out to much not knowing it and blow your motor. You might be able to use other people's settings, and put it a couple more percent rich to be on the safe side and you'd PROBABLY be alright. Go to ka-t.org and search for, the ultimate safc guide has lots of settings for a variety of different injectors. Assuming you running the ka.Tanner.

No, I'm running SR. I'll check KA-t.org just to read the guide so I kinda get an idea of how the SAFCII works.

Will I have to get a Wideband gauge too or does the SAFC show the readings accuratly enough?

get the wideband and be conservative with your pseudo tune. tune a turbo setup incorrectly and you'll be rebuilding an engine real soon.

Do I need the gauge for the wideband or will the SAFC read/display the wideband accurately?

If you are going to go that route, just buy a wideband from summit that comes with the gauge.

I dont know what kind of changes you are making but you might want to look at the GReddy emanage ultimate, it gives you more control. And please get an adapter harness for whatever you wire in, there is never any reason to ruin a stock harness.

I already have the SAFC II. The only thing I dont know about it is if it will read and show the A/F accurately to not need a gauge to know the adjustments. I can save $200 if I'm just able to get a sensor and not need a gauge.

Well to me it kinda sounds like you dont want to buy a wideband unless you absolutely have to. In that case I guess you can always take a shot at getting a descent tune using an egt gauge to tell you when your gunna start melting ****, so you can richin it up when it gets to hot a certain rpms. Its worked for a couple dsmer's I know. But personally i say just make the investment of getting the full wideband setup and do it 100% right, so you wont regret it.

I just don't want to pay $300 for a sensor and gauge when the SAFC already displays the A/F reading and I know I can just buy the sensor by it's self for $100. No one's really told me if the SAFC's reading is accurate enough to base my A/F adjustments off of.

the afcs reading isnt accurate. the only way to get a true air fuel ratio it to run a wideband o2 sensor and gauge to read off of. go with the aem kit. it cost me a total of $300 total including the welding of the bung into my downpipe and now i can tune away. hope this helps.

Thank you. Sucks though I gotta pay for the gauge. Why the crap is the gauge so expensive? The sensors only $75-100.
