Hi there, I just installed my safc and it seems it is ready the rpm by about 300-500 off during idle, and anywhere between 500-1000 (I think, hard to discern because my speedo cluster has lighting problems ) off during acceleration.

Could I have a loose connection? Or do I need something more?

That is normal. Try recalibratuing it a little. When I had one of those I had my car dynoed and the shop told me that you have to set it a certain way because it is always 500rpm behind. That is piggybacks for you.

Thanks for the free bump .

And I was playing with my settings. Turns out I had it set to 6 cylinder engine .

Well, it's a lot closer now, only about 50-100rpm off, livable.

mine reads almost perfect at idle, about 250rpm off around 3000 rpm, and by 6000rpm on the tach the afc only sais 5550. Go figure. I was told to always go by what the s-afc sais as the "actuall" RPM, which makes alot of sense because my car was always about 5mph slower than a friend SOHC shifting at 'redline' in 1st gear. So just being an old car, the tach could have become miscalibrated.

more than likely it is the tach that is off calibration.. Computers are pretty accurate with numbers and time
