Hey guys,

So another question I have is how to remove the SAFC II so I can run off the stock ECU. I asked this on another forum, but no one has an answer yet... I tried searching here on Nico and couldnt find anything, perhaps it has been covered, but I havent found it. Maybe you guys can point me in the right direction to remove it?

Ive never worked with one of these and I have some learning to do, but before hand Id like to try to get the thing as close stock so I can have my mechanic diagnose without all the other BS that came with the car.

The previous owner didnt have it properly tuned, so Id either like ti disconnect it and run off the stock ECU , or reset it if thats possible.

Yes Im a noob on these motors, everyone has to start somewhere. :bigthumb:

after getting the pre inspection last week, the mechanic said my transmission was leaking due do some seals. Also the oil pan gasket seal need to be replaced. When doing searches for 300zx Oil Pan Gaskets, I see two different kinds, a square one and a front and rear one. Anyone know which I need to get?

Id also like to order the best valve cover gaskets, intake manifold gasket, and head gaskets. Any recommendations on ones you guys have used?

I used stock oem head gaskets because i wasn't upgrading anything. If your going stock i would use oem parts. Aftermarket parts almost never fit or work right.

quality aftermarket parts are find for most jobs, some items do require OE but the HG should be gfine if you get name brans parts, I did have trouble with top line intake manifold and exhaust manifold gaskets

as for removing the safc, I believe if you trace it's wires to their source (shoudl be at the ecu) it should be pretty obvious

If the wires are soldered then you cut the wire going to the safc as close as you can to the splice as you can. once you've done that you need to connect the airflow signal wire, (white) on the ECU harness as this wire has to be cut to make the safc work.

There should be a reset function on the SAFC. If you don't have the manual you can find the PDF online searching for a minute. Or I can email it to you if you're having trouble finding it.

totally forgot, to reset it you gotta go to etc.>initialize>yes. AFTER YOU DO THIS, you MUST set it to run on the z, 6 cyl, throttle up, air in 2 air out 2, i'm pretty sure thats it but you should go download the manual off the apexi website.

Hey thanks for all the info guys, Ya I downloaded the manual, so ill do a factory reset on it later this afternoon. Just drained all the oil out yesterday, and getting a new fresh filter with some oil. I did initialize it a few days ago, but didnt do the presets aftwards, which might be the reason why its stalling out on me because I didnt set it up after the initialization.
