Hello. I have had my ecu modified the first time. I have not increase from 370cc injectors to 600cc injectors. T25 to a T3/T4 hybrid and stock MAF to a 300zx MAF. Do I have to retune the ecu or can I adjust everything with a SAFC II? I don't want to spend another $300 just to have the ecu retuned for a different MAF? So do I have to have it retuned or can I use a SAFC II? Thanks

i dont have personal experience with that one, but i do with others. i have used others that you were able to recalibrate a maf. i would say to just call up the techsupport and ask them. their normally very helpful with that kinda info

The problem is that no one wants to give me information because they are afraid that if they give me wrong information I can blame them and file a lawsuit against them. So none of these companies want to cooperate. I was hoping someone here might know what to do. I had it tuned once by REDLINE Performance off eBay and I was not happy with the tune whatsoever. It was burning rich no matter what. He tuned it 3 times and still burning so rich it would burn my eyes, blow out the spark at high boost and not able to check timing due to him messing with something in the ecu for timing.

I have never used a SAFC II so I am nervous of how to use them. I really don't have any clue how to use it and what exactly it is capable of doing. I know it can tune the fuel injectors to either flow more or less fuel at 500RPM incriments but other then that I am clueless. I am a noob to tuning and I am trying to learn so if there is anyone that is willing to help me and teach me I am willing to learn. I really need to get this tuning right so I do not blow up anything.

Thanks to all those willing to help.

i wouldnt use an afc to compensate for a f###d up ecu tune. start at the bottom, get the base ecu tuned right befor messin with the afc. and when i said tech support, i meant of the afc, but they will say the same thing.

one more thing, dont know if anyone has had good luck in the past but, if you arnt gonna trust egay for cheap coilovers and such, why would you trust em with your motor when its very easy to mess it up and blow up your investment?

sell the ecu 300-400 and sell the safc for 300.00 and save up some more money and buy a power fc selling those 2 alone will give you about half the money you need to go stand alone .aem ems are around 1200.00 so they your not wasting the money retuning your shiz every time .

I really did not want to spend $1200 but I know it is the safer route. However I would really like to keep what I have and work with what I got. Anyone know of a good company that would retune the ecu correctly or at least get it close? Hopefully someone who has a good reputation.

I'll check with JWT and get back with you. The Power FC are for the SR20. I have a KA24DE-T. I will post pictures up soon so you can see what I am working with.

I am still polishing the lower intake manifold and I have to do a little bit more wiring too. I have hidden all the wires and lengthened them as well. Built from the ground up.

Next question. Is there a thread or a direct link on nico that talks about how to program a SAFC II and explains the functions and why and how it works? Apexi was really not that helpful and I never received instructions with the SAFC II I bought. So I am lost. I am not sure what these things can do. I know they tune the injectors in but are there other functions that are within in that can adjust MAF and what not? Thanks.

Ok. I got off the phone with Jim Wolf Technology today and I am going to get an ECU from them. I spoke to Ben who was very helpful. I am going to send in my ecu and fuel injectors. They are going to flow them and then match everything up for me. So all I have to do is plug and play. I have a new MSD 6 BTM with everything and a SAFC II that I am selling to cut cost. Ben told me I will not need to retard the timing because their ecu's are tuned for it and a safc II will mess with their set settings. I am not sure if I should fine tune it w/ the safc II but was told not to. It would be done right. So I am going to have them do it and see how good the tune is.

If I get it all done and Dyno tune it will the dyno tune mess with the settings JWT did? I also bought a wideband. Should I keep that or like the MSD box and the safc II just sell it off?
