I've heard of people needing tach adaptors for their MSD BTMs, and etc and I was wondering if anyone else there who has an 89-90 SOHC KA24E, has issues using the SAFC with it.My issues is: The SAFC won't read my RPMs until they go up to 2000 or so (worst case), sometimes only 1500 is needed for the RPM readout to start functioning, otherwise it stays at 0. at higher RPM it works fine. Also, when the RPMs go down, SAFC shows them similarly to this(i am not listing all the RPMs, just so you get the idea): 3000....2500...1500...1000 and then it becomes zero, while the RPMs go down from 1000 to idle, as if the SAFC doesn't "see" them. This also seems to be affected by whether the car is cold or not. Whe it's cold (just started haven't revved much) it takes to rev it up to 2500 for the SAFC to "notice" the RPMs. as soon as it goes uner 2500, it'll show 0. My actual tach works fine at all RPMs.

HELP! Suggestions?

Hey sil80. I have one on my sohc (when it ran, turboing it so it doesn't run), I didn't have a problem with the safc-II w/o the btm. I didn't hook up the btm with the safc because I had no need to. If you can unhook the btm and leave the safc on and just rev it at an idle and see what happens. Or if this is hooked up w/o btm, I'd say either you got a bad safc (is it new/used?), or you need to check your wiring.

no BTM used right now, wiring seems to be ok (i.e.: the correct wires have been spliced into). the only thing i can think of is that yeah my afc may be bad. hopefully not.
