Im going to install my safc tomorrow with my stock injectors, and I had a cupple last questions. I was wondering would I leave my dec air settings at 0%/0% and not choose an ne rpm for the dec? also do I use sensor type hot wire 5, with 1 in/1out, and sens cal at 1 in 1out? and last do I need to connect the grey wire to the throttle point on the ecu? what does this do? in the safc book it does not say to connect the grey wire. this is the digital safc 1 going on a ka24e btw

you only have to det the dec. air if you have turbo. If you do, set the throttle point just under what your thottle is at 1600 rpm's and the ne point over what they actually are in the reading. The settings should be hot-wire and 4in/4out or 5in/5out. The calibration stays @ 1 and 1. As for the throttle wire, you should be splicing that signal from your ecu harness. The wiring diagrams on the booklet are not super straight foward. For my s14 the wiring that I used was n5-B. It had all the wires match up, except for the throttle signal. I found out which one my thottle signal was by using the factory manual, and went from there.

There are three settings in decel-air: Throttle point, NE1, NE2. I set mine so that the decel air would kick in when only when the throttle body is closed. So my throttle point is 1%. I guess what the fabio did was observe the throttle percentage at 1600 rpm and then set the throttle point to just under that value. Find out what your first two NE points are, then rev the motor up to those points and record the airflow at each point. Put the airflow at NE1 into the decel air setting for NE1 and the same for NE2.

Basically what decel-air does is below the throttle point SAFC completely ignores the airflow readings from the MAF and tells the ecu the interpolated airflow from the decel air settings and your rpm. So when all that metered air gets blown off the ecu doesnt add fuel for it and you go rich and die.
