Why are they even trying to give him a "fair trial" Its a mockery of justice. Just execute him and be done with it.
ALthough, this is an excellent pointQuote »The US is attempting to give credibility to the new Iraqi government. Trying Saddam could help in a big way with that. Iraqis need to see their government in action, and they need to feel that their government has a backbone. So, the Iraqi government has been fairly adamant about trying Saddam themselves, even though they aren't quite ready for it, and taking him from US custody into their own. I don't think many Iraqis are really happy with the US's occupation of the country anymore. They need to feel like their government is capable of making demands, and exerting power -- "demanding" that Saddam be handed over to Iraqi custody and tried in-country will help the average Iraqi gain some amount of pride in his government. I think that's a lot more important right now than whether it makes the US look bad or not.[/quote]
