What's the likelihood he was able to take out a life insurance policy in that five-day stretch?

That has to be incredibly difficult for the husband. 5 days after your wedding, that's sad.

I haven't even read the article, but just from reading the rest of these posts I already know I'd be saying exactly what you said here, Adam.

Damn, we are monsters.

Hardly. Did you see skeletor in those pictures? She was the monster.

But on a serious note, that's what I do. I joke about everything. I don't get people that feel the need to dwell on stuff like this and make themselves sad. This doesn't make me sad because I choose not to let it. Look, there is a situation like this happening somewhere in the world probably every minute or so (I mean, how often do people die on this planet? Odds are good that there's some super-tear-jerker story every minute, right?). If you want to hunt these stories down and feel depressed for the rest of your life reading them, have at it. Me, I'm going to brush off the sadness with a joke or two and move on. Cold? Maybe. But it keeps me in a happier mind-frame so I'll take it.

Sad story, but you know, you only live once. If this is what she wanted, she definietly got it, before she passed away.

@applebonker

I think we've both come to accept death. I've been through a bit of them over the few years, from both sides of the family. People I was close too.

I was more focused on the message than the sad story. Like you said, there are plenty of tear jerking stories out there but at least this one is inspirational; it could teach some of us a thing or to.

I'm honestly not trying to argue, but what did this story inspire you to do?

Because usually marriage is a slow death? :yesnod

Heyyy, I'm a jokester!

EDIT: Only makes sense if you also misread Bonker's question as "Why did this inspire you?" D'oh.

Definitely not a personal shot here, but I find this to be a sad statement about humanity. Why would anyone need this reminder? And how does that change the way you live? Like, you're just doing stuff you hate and having no fun, and then someone tells you that you may die tomorrow and now all of a sudden you're going to enjoy life? Why do we need this reminder? You don't need to tell me not to eat piles of dog crap because I know it wont be enjoyable. Are there people out there doing stuff they don't want to do for absolutely no reason?

Hey, if not caring what other people think and doing what makes me happy is the definition of perfect, then I guess so. I would've figured it's a bit selfish for most people though.

Point is, it should always be an easy decision. Either do something you enjoy or do something you don't enjoy. Doesn't get much more simple than that.
