hi to everyone, i'll get to the point me and neighboor are doing an sr swap for one of our buddys he baught the motor from canada. well for the last month we've been buying parts. wel on monday we started preping the car and the motor. i found that the spark plugs had oil all over them, so i took it as a bad sign well we took off the turbo, it was blown and we asume that the motor is going to need a rebuilt. my question is what should we do since we have a crappy sr either get it rebuilt all new internals zero milles, buy another sr way cheaper, or sell the parts we have and part out the car and buy another car.

I would take the motor apart and check it, but when engines are stored oil is usually poured into each cylinder. When I was storing my 429 I always put about a teaspoon of oil in each cylinder every month. If it needs to be rebuilt then rebuild it.

Could be oil JUST from the turbo and the motor could be fine.

you should compression test the motor before you jump to any conclusions.

it probally is just oil from the turbo, the engine had to run good if someone was getting on it enough to blow a turbo to the point where theres oil in the cyls.

Yea, I did it to keep the cylinder walls from corroding and to keep it from loccking up. When I put the tablespoon(got confused as to what was larger) of oil in each cylinder, I would turn the motor over a couple of times(with a socket wrench).

where in canada did he aquire this motor? cuz i have a friend who got an sr from osaka motorsports and they screwed him over royally. engine stored upside down, bad injectors, bad turbo, sludge build up, scored bearing journals. and they told him that since it was after 30 days, that there was nothing he could do. please spend a lil more money and buy from someone reputable.

If this motor has a warranty, I would immediately drop the oil pan and check the bearings and what you can see of the cylinder walls.

As for the oil in the cylinders, all sorts of crazy things happen when motors are imported. Check out the bottom end and you should find out where you stand.
