Hey Guys,
Just wanted to thank the forum members who have taken time out to help me out. I regretfully have to announce that I sold the QX4 - had 108000km on it.
As my first car and having had it since 2001, it means a lot to me, but a couple of things made me sell it.
1) Fuel pig. - self explanatory...2) Engine Seal was starting to go3) Belts starting to go4) Warped rotors
So 3,4 were wear and tear, but things like #2 started to really tick me off. I mean, since I've babyed this car, I've already replaced things like Harmonic balancers, clutch fan pulleys, parking brake cables, VTC sensors, O2 sensors...
As a Japanese car which is very well taken care of, I just didn't find it acceptable for my car to have that many issues. In a German car, I would expect it, but the gain in a German car are things like comfort, ride quality, etc...
So I traded it for a 07 Audi A4 2.0T / had 24000km on it and picked it up for 32 large. Certified pre owned - so 6 years of warranty bumper to bumper. I know probably everything is going to go wrong, but I don't really care since the warranty, and i've been itching to get into a fuel efficient car...and 30mpg would do it for me....(and that's on the lower end of what ppl get)
All in all, the QX4 has a very large sentimental value for me, but with things starting to go wrong (My AC compressor was next), I decided it was time for a different car / preferably one with warranty. I chose Audi because of the solid build quality. I decided against BMW because everything seems to go wrong and the car never seems to "shut up" on the highway. Mercedes is too sedate....
All in all, have fun in your Q's, I'm going to miss offroading, that's for sure!
