Well guys...never thought I'd be the one making one of these threads, but I wrecked the Rb Saturday night. I believe it was due to the stretched tires on 18 X 9.5 wheels hydroplaning, turning me into a 180 and slip off interstate into an embankment where I impacted on driver side and flipped. I was knocked unconscious by embankment and woke up in hospital. Luckily no one was injured or with me at the time and no structures where damaged. Car was totaled and hurt my heart but i only came out with a slice on my arm and small on near left eye. Will be posting pictures soon. Looks like engine, drivetrain, and some suspension is ok and will be transferring to my silvia shell.

that sux bro! glad you are ok.

Joe, dont be so harsh...believe me, it happens. I am fully positive my MT's caused my wreck while getting on the interstate one evening. When you are driving and the car walks out from under you, not much driving you can do.

Sorry to hear that bro.. Glad you're still with us.. And yes I almost lost my car quite a few times in just one night because of the same thing. Running MT's and it rained. I was doing 30 on a 65 and the car just had a mind of it's own and it went sideways when it wanted. I was really on the defensive. Welded diff didn't make it any better for me.

Thanks guys, this is truly an issue with my tire selection though. I wasn't actually on the interstate it was on the on ramp before i ever got onto interstate. Was doing about 45 with light throttle still looking for cars when car started to slide.

In good news....towed it home today and decided to stick in a battery and turn key. Car started right up. Have pics on the way also...after seeing car my injuries are nothing short of miraculous.

A few days of swapping and the RB will return if more glory

Glad your okay man, and I hope you can get everything rolling up and going good!

I have been in this situation atleast once before, technical crap goes wrong on modified cars all the time, dont be to hard on yourself. I blew apart my car bad when I crashed as well.

I have a new oil pan that i've only used once. It has all my gasket sealer stuck to it that needs to be scraped off, but that's all. No dents or anything.

Make me an offer if you still need one.

I have an oil pickup tube as well in case yours is all bent to hell.

Yea it was definitely your tires. Not the fact that they are stretched. In fact that helped since the tires are narrower then if they filled out the rim. Narrow is better then wide in the rain.

And think about it. Say you had a 205/45/17 on a 7 wide rim, its square, low pro and super stiff. There's a little give but not much. That same tire on a 8.5 or 9 wide rim has no squirm, but is pretty much as stiff as before. That's pretty much all the difference is.

But the worst part is its a kumho AST. Those are horrible tires in the rain or snow, thanks to those GIANT center tread blocks. Get better tires.

But I do feel really bad about the car. It looks like it used to be super clean, and that always sucks. It seems all the clean cars get totaled. GL with the new build.

New Build is in effect guys. Took the Ca outta my Silvia and dropping the Rb in. Not doing the 5 lug conversion for now and not running kuhmos again ever. Car is was extremely clean, props to original builder. By the way if anyone has any more insight on the wiring from a Ca swap to Rb please chime in. Im no novice but there was definitely different patterns for the two.

Glad your ok.

Why aren't you just swapping wiring harnesses between CA and RB20 instead of trying to re-wire?

I'm really sorry to hear this man. Its just awesome that you're not seriously injured though!

I hate to talk more on a perhaps sensative subject, but I do have a question about the damage. How did the roof hold up? I can barely tell from the pictures.. I'm pretty close to installing a cage in my s13 coupe at the moment, and I'm just really curious how s13 roofs hold up in the event of a roll over.

Thanks-Max

I cant draw an accurate judgment from my wreck. I rolled over on the back end of the car but i can say that the rear upper sway bar worked wonders.

Okay, guess that doesnt tell me much. I'm glad you didnt have to test the full structural rigidity of your roof anyway lol!
